Steve's blog header/logo!

It's changed from a text link to a graphic image. I wonder who made it?

It used to be that I admired Steve for being such a successful blogger AND having a minimalist layout that went against all the "rules" of blogging and theme design.

His (almost) all-text approach was nice compared to all the other bloggers who had images and video and logos scattered all over.

But these blue sidebar boxes, new graphics* and now the logo are sort of saying to me "Well, I guess the other bloggers were right all along. You do need attention-catching sidebars and graphics".

Fancy logo. Check!

I do think I'll grow to like the logo. Right now though, it reminds me of a Joe Vitale in-your-face approach to website design and marketing.

*New graphics like the Register Now button image on workshop pages -- the old Steve would've just had a blue text link.

I bet Steve designed the header himself in an evening, and is very proud of it. I definitely see the video games influence there, the new header makes me think of Aladdin.

Maybe with Steve's new business plan and with Saddam out of the way, Steve can become the prince of Persia.

I myself have an all-text blog, but now started playing with decorating the posts with images, it's like wearing nice clothes, make me feel proud and beautiful.

I dont get anything on my browser.

I like the banner design, personally, though it's overcompressed and has rather a lot of visible .jpg damage. That's never a good thing. :(

I can definitely see the video game style in it. It comes across very Zelda-ish to me. ;)

Image where text would do just fine + no ALT tag = a step backwards in terms of accessibility. Boo.

Too gaudy for my tastes.

There's no alt tag? I didn't check. Yeah, uhm, having an alt tag is important for accesibility and for SEO, as well. Not that I think Steve has a lot of issues with SEO on his site, but still...

Lol I was barely concentrating when I was flicking through the archives & I physically jumped & yelled "whuuut!" when I saw it. I guess I'm surprised Steve would change it.

I think I like it, it's cute (probs not supposed to be cute but I think it looks cute :p) & it reminds me of Harry Potter :D

I kind of like it, its definitely grown on me in the past few days. Although that triangle next to it makes the website look like some kind of cult. I can just imagine people wearing that triangle on a gold chain around their necks dressed jedi style robes. But maybe that's part of the new business plan too? ;)

I'm actually really, really sure that Steve was inspired by Zelda for this header.

When it comes to design best keep things simple and clear IMO.
No shiny golden type faces with religious-like symbols necessary.

(Steve Jobs realized that, and that was what made all Apple products so desirable.)

Wont stop me from reading the blog of course.
For me it actually displays Steve's weakness which makes him seem more human.

*I have a degree in graphic Design, so Im kinda sensitive to things like this...
