WOW. Have to admit I'm guilty on several counts. The thing is, I don't have a fear of success or delberately try to sabotage myself. But, whether you're purposefully doing the wrong things, or doing them mindlessly, out of habit, or ignorance; the results (or lack of) will be the same. I would add another wrong thing: Wrong thoughts. Too often, we beat ourselves up mentally and create a negative pattern of self-criticism and it only makes things worse. |

The real question for me is whether Steve thinks that by not committing to success, that person is by default committing to failure. Personally, I think no, but that's because I'm invested in my current path of wanting to understand rather than do.

I'm just wondering how the hell he managed to take notes on my every single thought, action and result from the age of 14 to 25 or so. I certainly didn't notice any programmers lurking about in the shadows, scribbling on clipboards.

It really takes something to play full out... to really give it your all and go for your dreams and goals... despite the odds that almost everyone else who has gone before you has already given up... but then again, it's so easy once you make playing full out a part of who you are... then you just want to play full out because that's the only way you know how to play Steve |

I want to add one: Just STOP thinking. Don't think! Just do! Also, I really liked this: Quote:

Definite wake-up/ shake-up call in that blog. Point is that I find it too easy to say to myself "I'm trying" and don the halo accordingly. Backsliding is understandable, regroup and press on, I'm virtuously on the improvement path, working at it, Rome wasn't built in a day, that sort of thing. A "progress" checklist in negative form - which is what the blog is - really holds up the mirror. I see more clearly how I'm actively, if indeed not deliberately, doing some things wrong. Quite a difference in perspective from the comfortable "I'm working towards doing things right, some things will have to wait for now, higher priorities, my effort needs focus, can't do everything at once, yadda, yadda". |

Sounds like the perfect recipe to reach the wrong ends by the wrong means... Andrew's right. It's funny because it is true. And it's also a very weird coincidence since I was listening to Wrong for the first time in months on Monday, which is the same day you published this. Steve, are you spying on me again? Seriously though, this and another recent realization has reaffirmed my commitment to expanding my ability to serve. I haven't been playing "the game" full out, and I want to thank you for putting the fire to my feet once again. hugs, Andreas |

I saw the title of this post and laughed inside, thinking "Gees this is going to be a good laugh". Unfortunetly it got less funny with every BOLD heading. I started out thinking I will be able to fit a few people to this mould and end up realising "I fit the mould just as well as anyone I know". I guess the bonus in this article is now I have some sort of list to work against to become the opposite of what Steve has posted. |
