As a designer, I agree that shade of cyan is rather jarring. Although, when looking at Steve's site, I try to keep in mind that Steve is colorblind. He's written about this in the past. However, I did do some style previewing just now and I found that even #E1F5FF would be an improvement over the color the boxes are now (which is #E0FFFF). Here's an example: •••••• <--- old color •••••• <--- new color I hope Steve considers using this color instead, even though to his eyes it may seem slightly grayer, to most readers the reduced amount of intensity in the green channel (the F5 part of the color code) is much less jarring. |

Steve should consider getting a web designer to simply make sure the colours are harmonious for those of us who aren't color blind. That shade of blue is as unpleasant as eating a plate full of raw bitter gourd. Last edited by momo313; 07-14-2011 at 02:21 AM. |

Yeah it kinda stresses out my brain to look at it. Steve wrote that he's not reading the forums anymore... anybody got his number that can call him and tell him to hang out with a designer for an hour or two? |

I was always surprised at how minimalistic the design was, since wordpress gives you so much room to play with. But at the end of the day, it's his blog and he can do with it as he pleases. I don't think taking the opinions of his readers into consideration would be the worst thing though. |

I'm color blind, and I can barely even tell that those boxes are greenish-slightly-maybe. If I hadn't read this thread, I might have thought they were light blue or gray. It's certainly not jarring to me. Weird. I think it should stay like it is. I feel like I have a superpower; I'm impervious to annoying colors! |

The forum looks good to me. I dont remember it looking bad. It may be that micro chip in my brain. That may be what Steves slave cult , hidden out there in the Nevada desert is doing , removing micro chips so web sites look good . Just kidding about Steves cult. desert rat

Hadn't been on his home site or blog in a little while, and looking at it, it may have a lot of social networking stuff at the top, but I don't see a huge problem with it. Since he's not posting as frequently, I mostly see these forums, which seem the same to me, so it doesn't matter so much.

| Oh, I should probably read entire threads before posting sometimes. I'm sure he hired someone to try and make his website look better, but I never had a problem with how it looked (at least once he got rid of Adsense).
