My question is whether the article mentioned in the Wikipedia entry was really written by his brother or whether it was someone pretending to be him.

That's not the page that used to be there. Obviously someone has commandeered his page and written nasty things. Not his brother.

Steve has actually linked to his brother's site before in the article Weaknesses That Matter, Weaknesses That Don’t

For example, I’m not particularly good at music. When I was a teenager, my brother tried to teach me guitar in exchange for me teaching him computer programming. Neither of us got very far. We were both happier and more successful sticking with our individual strengths. Consequently, he went on to become a musician (he lives in Japan and even sings in Japanese), and I became a programmer. I’m still no good at music, and he isn’t much of a programmer.

Steve's brother doesn't actually condemn Steve's attitude toward his family in the article, he merely reflects on a situation that occurred when he was twelve. What the wikipedia article seems to be making reference to is the first comment at the bottom:

I probably shouldn't be prying into potentially out-of-date family dynamics — so take this with a grain of salt — but my guess is that this comment came from his younger sister Sarah. My old roommate lived in LA for a couple years and worked with her for a while EA Games, and her perspective on Steve seems much different from the vibe I get while reading his articles or meeting him in person. My guess is that she feels that way because there are certain expectations that most people tend to place on their family members and Steve isn't one to conform to family expectations as easily as others. But again, that's total speculation.

In the end, it's really none of my business how other people interpret Steve. But I appreciate his willingness to live in a way that causes others to question him, rather than hiding those aspects of himself to avoid criticism.

I have heard that wikipedia and the net its self has errors. I assume wikipedia will let some one correct personal info.
