Watch Online Videos in Half the Time

Sweet! I've always done this for online video lectures from school, but didn't even think about doing it to other videos.

And :D in regards to the Eckhart Tolle comment.

You'll have to credit Rachelle for that idea. :)

Ah cool, I do this already for lectures and some tv shows, Deep Space 9 on 1.77x speed actually becomes a good series :D

I find like speed reading speed listening makes me concentrate more and I actually retain more information.

Andrew Brunelle 04-14-2011 02:12 AM

That's a neat service. I could watch an hour of "whatever" in 20 0r 30 minutes or even over 3 hours. Great. I'll have to try it.

Thanks for the resource Steve, this is actually very useful and I'm all for productivity online.

Its really a nice video buddy.!!
It will help me to watch every kinda video in half the time and I can save many hours daily..!! :)

cellardoor 04-15-2011 04:29 AM

Does this work with HTML 5 videos?

Calibrate 04-16-2011 06:41 AM

"Maybe now I can actually make it to the end of an Eckhart Tolle video without wanting to commit seppuku"

:) I third that opinion.

Exckhart is a genius on paper, but even at twice the speed the sound of this man's voice is a serious obstacle to spiritual growth.

Is there a function that can change annoying accents also then??!

Hey, it's an awesome series at normal speed. Y'know, once you get past the first two seasons.

FYI: VLC does this for free and you can download youtube videos from safari without any addition software: Easily download YouTube movies via Safari - Mac OS X Hints

I can only hear chipmunk voices when I use VLC to speed up videos. Does it have an option to adjust the pitch?

calicles 04-18-2011 05:26 PM

This page describes how to do this with vlc, mplayer and totem (all free software), including how to fix the pitch issues:

Thanks for the link. :)

Can't watch any videos now but I'll try it out later.

Snorkledorf 04-22-2011 11:54 AM

Just bought it. I was definitely pleased to find that you can activate it for 2 of your computers, as they're kinda vague about that on their website.

*coughcough* and if you activate Mac OS X's web sharing and throw a flv player thingeroonie into your Sites folder with a simple HTML file, it'll play your local files offline too! ;)

Great video shared by you..!!
I really enjoyed watching it and hope to get more videos like that from you..!! :)

Better Learning at Your Pace

This is an amazing solution to a problem I didn't even know I had! ;) Yes, VLC already had the capability, but before Steve pointed me to MySpeed I didn't really notice it or grasp the benefits.

Now I realize that it not only saves time but even improves my focus and absorption of the material. I really love it.

Together with my friend Joachim I've created a video to promote this solution.

Besser Lernen in Deinem Tempo - YouTube

Alex

PS: Sorry it's only in German for now, you want subtitles?
