I think I need to go register about 10 new domains now. Imagine if one or more of the slaves blogged about their experiences too. I imagine that "A Slave's Life" could become a very popular blog. Too bad that aslaveslife.com is already taken. One thing we'd need to figure out would be how to handle slaves' privacy concerns. I'm fine with people who want to keep their identity a secret, but it may not be very realistic even if we try. I get recognized around town sometimes. It's probably best to only have slaves that can fully own their enslavement. |

Can slaves do things they want to do but which you haven't told them to do? Like if you don't have any outstanding orders, can a slave go to the park? How much latitude do slaves have to fulfill your orders? Would you be more likely to give the order: a) Get the word out about this product or b) Write a script, run it by me, then email it to these addresses What do you do in the case of a slave not following an order? What an awesome project. You're going to end up with a house full of yummy slutslaves, massive business growth, and a fat bank account to boot. I'm so excited for/envious of you :-) |

I'd be more likely to give slaves lots of latitude to be creative, but this depends on the slave's skills. I don't want to micro-manage if I don't have to. I certainly didn't do that at CGW, and most of the CGW staff were volunteers. For the most part when you have good people, it's best to let them decide how to get things done. Of course we can always discuss best practices and such. Instead of dictating every detail of action, I'd rather focus on inspiring and motivating people to do their best, helping them see the big picture of how they're making a positive difference. Help them get centered in their hearts, and then see what they choose to express. I have a pretty fault-tolerant business, so minor mistakes and failures are generally no big deal. People have to be free to screw up now and then w/o worrying about getting fired. You should ask Rachelle what happens if she doesn't follow an order. No reason you can't do the same thing if this idea appeals to you.

This was a fantastic post! As an April Fools Joke, it was pure art! Yet as I read it, it became a thinkpiece! I think it is totally workable! If the slave label were merely taken out, you would undoubtedly have a task on your hands. Do we call it an internship opportunity of the decade or slavery? Many companies effectivley run this model for recent graduates. Call it an internship and it's legal and stirs no controversy. Then another common practice is wage slavery. (Or let's call it a job so that so the overwhelming majority won't get upset when confronted with that truth and so we keep it legal and legit.) If you offered such an internship to wageslaves, sounds like a no-brainer to me! =) |

My fiancee is currently doing an unpaid internship for her masters in genetics and still has to cover food and housing, plus grad school tuition, so I can imagine a lot of people interested in personal development wishing this wasn't a joke. Still a good read.

Tempting. So THIS is the secret 2011 project. I should have KNOWN. Quote:
Servants of Universal Growth Or something. For what its worth, I already have video editing, web design, and graphic design skills... Question: What if we're visiting Vegas for a week at a time? Could we help with some projects in exchange for staying at the Pavlina Compound? Did I just type "Pavlina Compound"? oh god...

I didnt think this was an April fools joke. In fact, now that I think of it I employ a few slaves... For some reason people want to work for me and don't mind not getting paid. I sometimes pay for their flights and hotels. Sometimes I send them a small gift in the mail. And these are highly talented people. I don't settle for less. But I dont see it as working for me, they work because they want to be part of the projects I initiate. They admire my dedication to my art, and I think they miss working on artistic projects instead of commercial jobs. Somehow they know Im not in it for they money, so neither are they. I guess they get some benefit. Sometimes they even ask that I dont take anyone but them to do the job... Last edited by danas; 04-02-2011 at 01:36 AM. |

funny article Steve. Even though I'm sure this was a joke, I don't know how you do it. Your "business opportunity" sounds much more appealing then what people subject themselves to in terms of traditional employment. I'm sure you'll be getting lots of mail from hot women begging to be your sex slave. haha |

At CGW we do exercises so that each participant can explore and better understand their inner Master and servant. The Master is the part that makes the decisions, while the servant is the part that must implement them. If the Master side isn't well-developed, people can't make good, committed decisions. If the servant side isn't well-developed, people can't follow through on what they've decided to do. It might seem unbalanced to focus on one side or the other for a length of time, but it's similar to building any other skill.

This is pretty darn interesting. I myself have kicked around alternative ideas of employment and education, but could never settle on an elegant enough model to work towards. Though I read some news articles about how a lot of companies are using unpaid labor, and that it breaks labor laws. You might have to set up some sort of religious organization, that's the way churches have gotten around this for decades. You might find a letter in your mailbox from me, soon. I've been spending the last few years getting mobile enough to take advantage of just such an opportunity. If you're seriously serious, I'd be down. |

Must say that it's a great idea, Steve. And quite generous on your part. The more I think about it, the more it appeals to me. For me, it's more or less an ideal change of environments. I don't have a job right now. I manage to pay my bills by living a minimalistic lifestyle and I am quite happy with that. My skills mainly involve writing/editing/managing website but I have also some experience in organizing conferences and so on. For me, the biggest advantage would be to spend quality, one-on-one time with Steve that would be so much more educational that the long distance communication. And there is nothing to lose. At the most, it will be a three month fantasy camp, like the one Kramer often goes to, all expenses paid. Agree with James. It sounds more like Padawan training. Expect a letter from me, Steve. |

I still have some baggage with the word slave. I am not from the US, so it's not that kind of baggage. But then, if I think hard, I realize that in all my previous jobs I was just that. A slave, doing something that I did not enjoy at all.

I am not sure what to think of this. On the one hand, this is laughing-out-loud-funny. On the other hand it makes me think. On yet another hand I feel some disgust and wonder whether this slavery situation is going to be psychologically healthy. On the fourth hand, it might actually work somewhat. On the fifth hand, I am now wondering if I would actually apply if the aspiring master were a good looking gay guy and the conditions were as good as this. On the sixth hand I am flabbergasted at what I seem to have written for a fifth hand. Let me summarize. "I am getting slightly uncomfortable with the direction this blog is going". |

| Yeah what Steve is explaining isn't real slavery, as it sounds as though the person has free will from what I understand. From the sounds of they are allowed to explore and have fun and make mistakes. Or will they have to do exactly what you say, and be punished however you see fit? Definitely more like Padawan. |

Choose whichever response best fits with your perception of me, because I had all of these at some point:

You really got me. Hook, line and sinker. -ETA- Though, I have to say, if it weren't for social anxiety (I'd be hiding in my room all the time and flinching if someone so much as looked at me :P ) and me being on the other side of the world, I'd consider it. Not out of any sense of wanting it, mind you, but because I'm terrified of the real world and would want someplace safe to hide, someplace to be around others and feel safe doing so. It says a lot about me I'd consider what most people wouldn't be caught dead doing rather than doing what most people do day-to-day. I'm not sure whether to find myself pathetic or give myself a hug! Or maybe, as you said, I was inspired by the call of future slaves who need feeding ...In another lifetime, steve, in another lifetime. Thing is I have a very clear life purpose right now and it doesn't involve being a slave to yours. But you can bet I'd have fun being your slave

I guess the first six paragraphs are true (before Economic Considerations). So When the first employee? And how do you think the relationship will go, given the "boss"' articles like "10 reasons you should never get a job"? |
