I'm miffed. Someone edited my signature and replaced the whole thing with a cute advisory to read the rules: Personal Development for Smart People Forums - Announcements in Forum : Steve Pavlina It's not clear what rule I'm supposed to have violated, but I'm guessing it's because I used the word "bitches" in one of my links? (Incidentally to an IM article). Whatever, I'm ok with rules being enforced, but can they at least be predictable? I think I've contributed enough time and energy to these forums to deserve a LITTLE consideration, like a quick PM that says, hey butthead, you violated rule X. Or maybe they could have removed the offending word or link, instead of destroying my entire signature? Of course, from a selfish perspective it would've taken me about the same amount of time to rebuild the signature as it did to write this, but this way maybe there'll be a tiny discussion in the mod forum to be a little more respectful with the regulars? |

That just sounds like something Steve would do. Most of the mods are pretty good about letting you know what they do around here. I'm constantly getting PMs from various mods letting me know that they edit or delete a post of mine. (Usually it's because I have ADD and am a classic derailer of threads. (I don't really have ADD) (Or maybe I do) (Oh, look, it's an antelope.) | |

Never had this happen before. Got my fingers slapped for an indecent avatar once but other than that, never even gotten a reprimand for a post. Except that one time I posted a video of myself dressed in a dinosaur costume and stomped on kid's sandcastles at the beach. It was hilarious. People running all over the place, crying and screaming, "Godzilla!". Then cops showed up so I dove back into the ocean, where I remain to this day... plotting my revenge against the evil Japanese who's radiation created me. Come to think of it, I'm not quite sure if it was the video itself or the fact that I posted it in one of the LOA threads. The point was that the more we talk about Godzilla and fear him, the more likely it is that one day he's going to show up. Me and ALG were going to write a book about it but after he vanished, I knew it was up to me. I'm a movie buff so I set out to create a movie that was never meant to go anywhere. I remember it like it was yesterday. March 30, 2011. I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the fashion at the time. .... Ya, never had this happen yet. |

We try to always give notice, and it is definitely nothing personal when it doesn't happen. We all are only human as well (at least... most of us So, although I wasn't the one who changed your signature, I apologize if you felt that it was something personal towards you. I can assure you it was not. Most of the mods don't hang out in every sub forum so it is definitely possible that someone changed your signature without really knowing you, if you don't post often in their sub forum. |

I'm the one who edited your signature. Some of us have started using that method of issuing "warnings" via signature edit as it's a very fast, effective, and a little lightly humorous for the recipient and us and has gotten the message across effectively. I recognize though in your case the rules you broke may not have being as clear cut as in other cases so perhaps in your case it would have being best to have sent you a pm directly. I've gone ahead and sent you a pm to explain what rules were broken in your signature. Sorry about the confusion. |
