Default Launching a Steve Pavlina Mirror

In light of Steve shrugging his old Copywrong off his shoulders I am happy to (apparently be the first to?) announce I'm launching a mirror site

The site is already under construction: Steve Pavlina Mirror

Happy to be able to help spread some of Steve's wisdom in whatever way I can

It will probably take a long time before the mirror is up to date, since I'm not just brute-force spidering it Guess I'm old-fashioned like that

Mad props for being at the forefront of a revolution

Not sure I see the value in this exercise. I personally would have done something a bit more creative and make "personal development for stupid people" or something more fun than a basic rip...but what do I know! Good luck

Hey Xamuel,

what's your vision for the mirror site? I just now read Steve's article about the copyright move, and now am thinking about some creative projects to start based on Steve's work.

I don't have any specific ideas yet on what I'd be excited about doing with Steve's content, except for possibly helping coordinate people and efforts so we can set up teams and projects as quickly and as easily as possible.

In the spirit of giving, I thought I'd share the idea I had for it tonight. I think it's a good win-win solution as well. But it's not something I'm particularly inspired to do, so I'll share for someone else. Maybe if someone runs with the idea they'll drop a donation in my paypal if they are inspired to do so.

Basically, I thought it would be really cool if someone were to compile his posts into ebook form and upload them to Amazon for kindle reading in the kindle app. The win-win part would be that you give 70% of the profits to Steve and keep 30% if the profits for yourself for compiling it in that form.

I'm not sure about the value of this but who knows.

A quick search shows that there are already some of Steve's article posted on other sites.

(To find them, take any sentence - less than 32 words - in any article from Steve, and do a Google search with " sentence ". For instance : "Thought and action can be perceived as two different dimensions of who you are: the mental you "
From the article "Thought Vs Action"

We find several copies :
Thought vs. Action | Self Mastery
Thought vs Action - Uncategorized - Albert Einstein - Copyright Steve - OK - Pavlina Personal Development Smart People - obworlddiscovery.info
Ðж¯±È֪ʶÖØÒª - ÓªÑø´Ù½ø»á - ÏæÑÅÔ° xytown (forum post in a Chinese forum)
A SOJOURN OF SOLITUDE.: EVERGREEN CONFLICT BETWEEN THOUGHT AND ACTION.

Re: Vision for the mirror site:

To increase robustness of Steve's ideas, in the same way that the Wikileaks mirrors increase robustness of Julian Assange's.

To have a simpler, less distracting source, free of blinking ads and other distractions.

To have shorter, intuitive URLs: For example Fear of Success | Steve Pavlina Mirror instead of Fear of Success: What will happen if you succeed?

To have minor improvements, in the vein of an open source project. Older, obscure articles are full of obsolete links and obsolete information. Posts like "The Year In Review" can be renamed to "The Year 2004 In Review" and so on. Once the mirror is up to date, I am going to look into making it wiki-editable, but that'll probably be awhile

Last but not least I'll personally benefit from the mirror by getting valuable information on what kind of articles people are interested in, what articles search engines are interested in and so on. It's not like Steve is opaque about this, but I'd love to see finer-grain details, and might publish about those for everyone else to see too.

The Mirror is now up to the first day of 2008. I've been doing about a year a day, that will eventually speed up since Steve's Writings eventually slowed down-- though, 2008 I'm not sure about, with all the raw food stuff.

Here are a few Brand New Steve Pavlina articles never before released to the public!!! Obtained by rearranging/combining/mixing existing articles

Hi James81

I see that you are keen about having an ebook with Steve Pavlina's materials. I've put the 16 articles (that were outside the blog posts) into ebook formats:

Steve Pavlina’s Articles in eBook Format

Enjoy!

I've actually compiled just such a Kindle file for my own offline reading, though it was a year ago. A ginormous (for text) 5 or 6 MB file. I'm working on wrangling up an automated system to keep it more up to date, since I'm a bit better at ebook creation now and there was rather a bit of tedious manual HTML editing I did at the time.
