So, if we are emotionally naked, does that mean we can have emotional sex?

Great article.
I just had a relationship where I kept sharing myself while he never opened up. I hoped me being so open would make him feel more comfortable with opening up too but it never happened. In the end it made me feel really bad and vulnerable. I guess we kind of owe people to open up a bit back when they open up to us.
Usually I have really good experiences with being open though

Emotional risk-taking is something I definitely DON'T do....it almost makes me nauseous just thinking about it. I always think of this as more of a male trait that I possess....

Yeah, this is great. Emotional risk-taking definitely brings me closer to people. One girl I really liked created a lot of intimacy between us by making it so that everything we shared seemed like we were both taking huge emotional risks and bathing them in love. XD

Love that article.
I must say I'm a big emotional-risk taker and quite courageous - not that I would be so great and amazing, I just simply can't do otherwise, it's in my nature.

However, I must also say that by taking the risks I DO make myself quite vulnerable, although I don't see it in the moment - and yes, I DO get hurt time to time.
I even started to think I should learn to be more careful.
But maybe it IS about a right balance - and probably about a good timing too.
Sometimes it seems to me I'm too straight forward and to fast to open up, especially considering I'm a girl...

Any thoughts?

When I first saw the title "Connecting from the Heart," it grabbed me - I have often thought that I am TOO transparent!

So... translate that into "thin skinned!" BUT... I have to say that being so open has served me well, overall. Everything I do, everything I say - I do and say from my heart, whether it is my relationships or my business.

It just works better for me that way!

Hi Katchka! I am very similar! Yes, sometimes I get hurt - but more often than not it works better for me to be as open as I am than not. It's my nature too! So, you are not alone!

Me too

I don't really have an secrets, or hold back any part of me... But I don't see it as vulnerable. What can they do? Reject me? Maybe, but to me that hasn't happened (yet?). So it is not my experience.

I do try to measure myself and say things only in the right context. When being at a party and everybody is having fun and joking around isn't the right time to talk about when I was depressed or having panic attacks.. Or about the time when we spend all our money on a restaurant (and some borrowed money) and the restaurant went bankrupt...

But, I don't have problems talking about this in general.

My only secret is my PIN and that basically only because my husband would get angry if I'd share it... I trust people, and I truly believe that most people are trust worthy.
