Dude, Steve, I love these things. My brother got a Roomba for Christmas years ago and we had so much fun watching that little thing the first day. We were like kids. His model did very well at picking up cat hair. Speaking of the cats, they liked the Roomba too.

Yay technology! Think what other cool things we'd have if we didn't spend so much engineering talent and other resources on weapons.

I was going to mention the idea of sex robots, but they have already been invented.

Someone should totally do a 30 day trial with a sex robot. That would be a great blog!

How about a 30 day trial AS a sex robot? You just scoot around the house all day having sex with whatever you come in contact with.

That's ironic because iRobot also makes military robots like the Packbot, which have apparently performed quite well in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Lots of cool technologies emerge from defense spending, including cell phones and the Internet itself. This very communication we're having is occurring on technology that grew out of DARPA-funded projects.

Yes, and I postulate our technology is far behind from where we could be by now because we settle for civilian adaptations of weapons technology. It's an inefficient process.

Cool. AI is one of my favorite subjects and in fact my scifi novel is based on AI and robotics.

The robots that are available might seem primitive, but when you look at the state-of-the-art research, it's downright scary. I think very soon we are going to have much more sophisticated machines.

Now just wait for a robot that can observe Steve's actions and formulate a new blog post about what he has been up to lately....

Hehe. I think we need to include an option for requesting sex at first, or random sexual encounters.

My friend's family got one of these when I was in high school. I was so excited about it that I would follow it around joyfully whenever I visited ^.^

Nah, if Al Gore invented the Internet, it would constantly break and there would be loads of privacy issues.

Oh... maybe he did!
