There is another way to think about all of those messages about stuff from 5-10-20 years ago: That the content you made back then is still providing value in some way to people alive today. Especially your blog posts that are immortalized via your website. Those will probably continue giving value to people for years and years. From this perspective, if you didn't receive emails about these things, it would mean nobody is getting value from or reading them anymore. So, that is one way to turn it around into a positive outlook. |

Ha. You've never heard of a virtual assistant Steve. That 17 year old in the Phillipines could feed her little brothers if you paid her $1 a day to read your mail, and even respond to it on your behalf. I thought you were into owning slaves. |

| I've been using the LoA to visualize traveling a lot more, and this is one of the effects that manifested (in the form an idea following by quick action). So far the manifesting part seems to be unfolding perfectly.

| That's excellent. I hope the travelling helps you get back on track to fulfilling your potential. Not that it matters to you one tiny bit what I think, but I'll just second the suggestion someone else made about visiting non western countries...

| Not since I programmed filters into my contact form to automatically nuke messages that contained certain phrases, like "This is not MLM." Nuking all messages that contained the words, "For immediate release" stopped most press releases from getting through. Another time saver was to nuke all messages that contained phrases like "swap links" and "link swap" and "trade links" and such. I'd forgotten that these filters were nuking most of the spammy stuff already, so I never saw those messages anyway. |

Lots of people have suggested that sort of thing, but so far no one has actually said specifically why it matters. I can guess at the reasons, but it would be nice to hear more specifics rather than "It will be an eye opening experience." I plan to do so anyway, but I'd like to visit Europe first since that's where my ancestry is from.

Why non-Western? Well, one reason is to experience love. Many here talk of unconditional love, but have no concept of the meaning. Until you have been accepted by the people of south east asia, or Africa and they are offering to share what they have, yet they have nothing to give- well, it's humbling, and makes you realise how selfish you are in day to day life. As you pull away your contact form, they will hand you their only meal of the day to make you feel welcome. So love is one reason. The second reason is work culture. Understanding things like employment from a non western perspective. Understanding their pride at having work. Thirdly spiritual- many of these cultures are so far ahead of us and have so much that cannot be put into words. You need to feel it- the warmth of a genuine smile, the way they embrace you as part of their family, their true pain as you leave to return "home". I could go on. Strange as it seems if you really want to experience love, gratitude and true happiness, you must go to countries that are "poor". It's then very hard to feel "affluent" back in the western world. I can't describe it well, I'm sorry- but I hope one day you find out.

Steve, I noticed at the end where you mention moving out of your toxic environment, what I posted in my introductory thingy the other evening. I can see I'm already going to like this forum! I'm taking steps every day to see to it I manifest a fantastic new place to live. I have opted to not focus on moving out, and instead focus on my cool new house where I can produce music to my hearts content. WOO |

But I live in Florida, most of our economy is based in tourism. I haven't ever been gawked at....we do make fun of the tourists, though. There's this saying - only tourists ever get pulled out by the undertow.

It must be experienced in person to get the full effect. It is something like "Omg... Wtf...." followed by a complete silence of the mind as you are in awe that such a thing even exists in the world. I think that's the best way I can describe it. Also Thailand was a lot of fun in general. We saw a Broadway-styled show in a huge theatre that featured only transvestite actors who played both male and female parts in the play. It was waaaaaaaay entertaining and definitely something you will not find in any other country (Thailand is apparently the "transvestite capital of the world" because of their cheap sex-change surgery. Fun factoid that you will never use for fear of people looking at you strangely). Steve, I would also say that you should visit as many countries as possible to experience the huge variety of food! But if you stick to veganism or any other dietary rules you will probably be very limited in your experience of it. Last edited by Curtis2011; 10-18-2010 at 10:21 PM.

Little things - what do people eat for breakfast? What does the coffee taste like? I laughed about the fact that there was a soda in Italy called "Time Up". Driving is awesome, too, because you see a sign and veer off and hey, there's some awesome ancient monument rearing up to explore that was ancient before the US was even a thought.
