What happens if you report a post

If you report a posts, the mods will see it appear in a special moderator forum. They will see the offending post, the reason that you reported it and a link to the post. The moderators who are responsible for that forum will also receive an email.
Besides that, nothing happens automatically.

Typically, the mods will investigate the claim and take appropriate action.
At times that might take a while because no moderator might be online, or because we are discussing the situation behind the scenes.

We try to keep people updated who reported a post, although that is not always feasible. But you can rest assured that if you report a post, we look at it seriously, and take every factor into consideration.

How to report a post

Every post on this forum has a little "tool box set" on the left bottom. The report a post button looks like a triangle with a red border and a black line in it (could be an exclamation mark.. We'll leave that up to your imagination ).

If you click on that button you will be taken to a new window where you can put in your reason for reporting this post.

If it is because of spam or trolling, you can just put that in. If you think that this person is crossing a line and has done so before (in a different post or thread) it is useful for us to know that as well.

You can be as long and short as you like, but we prefer clear and precise reasons

Click on submit, and voila, you have reported a post.

And again, don't worry that anything will happen automatically. We will take a look at the post and make an unbiased decision.

When to report a post

There are some very obvious times when to report a post, such as Spam, trolling, personal attack or name calling. It is way more effective to report such a post so we can delete it and either warn or ban the user, then to engage in a battle with this user and maybe end up being warned or banned yourself!

There are also some other reasons when you could report a post:

- If it is off topic, or if you are not sure it is off topic, but would like us to make a decision about it
- If you want a post or thread moved (only for very good reasons)
- If you think this might be a personal attack (on you, or on someone else) even if you are not sure.
- If it is copy right material from any other source that goes on more then 1 paragraph and/or does not have a source (including link).

In short, we prefer that you report a post, even if you are not 100% sure. That way we will make a decision about it, and at least (no matter the decision) we will have seen it.

Why to report posts

Although we try our very best, we cannot read every single thread in every single forum. Especially not those that evolve into 5 pages in 20 minutes

We need help from everybody on the forums to keep it the clean and amazing environment that it is right now, where spam and trolling are not welcome and virtually do not exist!
