Steve, reading about your new adventures with the idea of subjective reality is very interesting. I hope you keep sharing it with us.

Please be gentle, I am a newbie around here
In my opinion this is what's going on. But I think it should be pointed out that although we are being dreamed by the bigger dreamer, we ARE that dreamer, in essence. Not our bodies or our egos, but our awareness. Our awareness IS the dreamer. We are not separate from the other dream characters, or the dreamer itself. We only perceive the separation. The awareness is the constant.

Hi Unconquered,

Just to let you know that i have NO hard feelings or anything negative related to this thread or your opinion, or my opinion, or our opinion

I do not understand (or better said) did not understand that you were agreeing with my initial point, because to me it seemed that you were contradicting that point.

I also do not quote the entire message because that is a waste of space especially when it is one point that is standing out for me.

It is ok to not have me understand. I am thankful for your attempts to get through my thick skull... that can take some patience (as Angela can very well tell you ).

I also appreciate your attempts at adjusting your communication style.

May I make a suggestion regarding that, or would you prefer not?

If the physical world is an illusion, then that must include you, right? Your body is all perception. You aren't here/there. Nothing is here/there. This is a dream. It looks real. It's all magic/imagination/smoke and mirrors. But it's still enjoyable, even if you realize it's an illusion.

Therefore YOU do not exist. Neither do I. Or maybe better said, we don't exist as separate beings, but our awareness exists as one consciousness.

So no you aren't a figment of Steve's imagination because Steve is a dream character without an imagination. And I'm exactly the same way. So are you. You are a figment of the dreamers imagination and as the dreamer becomes aware of its own dream the dream changes to accommodate this new story line.

"What would it be like if the dream character realized it was dreaming? Would the dream change?" Your experience is now playing out that story.

I had a dream (sleeping dream) a few nights ago and in it I was walking around and realized that this was all my creation. I realized it was all "my kingdom" and everywhere I went and everyone I met was a creation of my own consciousness.

Yet the dream was still a dream. It wasn't really the typical lucid dream where I realized "I'm really in bed right now asleep". Rather it was me having a dream that I was interacting with all my creations, but the "me" in the dream never realized that I was actually asleep. I thought what was going on in the dream was my current every-day experience that was morphing before my eyes in the waking state (typical dream, basically).

That's the best analogy I can find for what I think is going on. Although you are waking up, and are changing the dream, it's still a dream. You're just dreaming that you are waking up. The person who is dreaming you is one level removed from your conscious mind, and I doubt you'll ever make contact with him in this earth-existence. I don't think that's necessary or even desirable.

The dream is the experience. It's all you but at the same time, none of it is you. While you're dreaming, you can make cool stuff happen and that's all you need to know. It's all "fake". All of it. Me, you, Steve. The only thing real is the dream itself. And dreams, by their nature, are illusions.
wow cylon, this was an awesome post. thank you

Here's where I start to have problems with the whole subjective reality thing... awareness is physical, and this is starting to sound like just another Mind over Matter false dichotomy/hierarchy. Soul over body, rationality over emotionality, humanity over animality... Aren't they the same thing, in a sense?

Is it?

Because awareness is just neurons in my brain, electricity going from one bit to the other bit...

That's why people have hallucinations. For them they are just as real as what you and I see. Same with hearing voices. They are really hearing them...

Your brain is an hallucination. It's merely another figment in the dream world. You can't look to the brain for answers since it's just a projection.

weird stuff happening to me... I keep on seeing people who look like me, physically. Either now, or when I was younger or even when I was a child.

Which makes it extra weird is that this is Mexico and I'm European, so not very likely to run into my long lost twin sister here...

Here's some weird similarities about the above currently reflected in my own life:

I'm in Edmonton right now. I have twin cousins here (they are fraternal twin sisters). I look a lot like one of these twin cousins, like we could be sisters.

Additionally, this specific twin cousin loves Mexico, speaks Spanish, and is leaving for Mexico on Sunday.

... Oh, and my ethnic background is also European.

Like Steve, I've recently started exploring D/s. I've been immersing myself in the fetish scene (clubs/bars/forums/books/etc) to learn as much as possible from others already living the lifestyle. Earlier this week I joined fetlife.com (sort of like a Facebook for kinksters) and today I uploaded a photo to be used as my avatar. What's weird is that until today, I never really noticed that there's a sign in the picture that I'm standing right next to, which reads "Dream Power"! I love it when synchronicity strikes like that!

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences Steve! I'm thoroughly enjoying your (my?) Subjective Reality journey!!

xoxo,
Marta

I've had this under my facebook picture in the little info box, since I signed on to facebook:

"...all of a sudden I saw that she was God and the milk was God. I mean, all she was doing was pouring God into God, if you know what I mean."

It's from Teddy, by JD Salinger. I loved the vision of oneness it provided, and I laughed today, seeing it again, in light of your trial.

The twin stuff . . . I stopped at the farm stand on the way home. One of the women selling veggies there asked me, "Did you enjoy your lunch yesterday?" I gave her a quizzical look and she asked, "Aren't you the woman who bought a tomato and some carrots here yesterday?" And I answered, joking, "Nope. That was my twin." And the woman behind me in line laughed.

Maybe that WAS me!

Someone just sent an email saying, "Never give up! I believe in you!"

"I believe in you" has a whole new meaning through this lens. Very, very powerful.

I've been doing a lot of reading on Quantum Physics and SR lately.. and decided to take a break and read a Doctor Who novel I got last week... within the first few pages, mentions of Quantum Entanglement... hmm... I put it down for a couple days and last night opened up to where I had ended, two sentences on the line "the white rabbit is running late" appears.

Curiouser and curiouser...

Whoa . . . that's a good one!

It's very common for me to have a book or tv reflect something I was just thinking about or talking about, but I had a disorienting experience last week when I decided to watch a show called Flashpoint (I think). The cops were looking for a woman who was hiding in a museum, and I was sort of watching this while also reading a book by Ira Levin called "This Perfect Day" (which also relates well to the dream world ideas) and the characters in the book were hiding their activities from government authority and hanging out at night in a museum. The SR idea and also "Inception" made me think of these as two levels, like the tv show has people hiding in a museum and the book has people hiding in a museum, so when I wake up, am I going to be . . . hiding in a museum?
