I immediately thought tens of thousands of dollars for the end price & wouldn't bother bidding. But maybe a lot less, maybe a lot more, who knows. Good idea though Now you will literally know how much an hour of you is worth! |

Yeah, good point, Roxy. I keep forgetting how much money some people have to spare. There will be a few who can bid in the tens of thousands. It'll be quite a windfall for eBay, eh? Anyway, this'll be fun to watch. Grab the popcorn!

I probably disagree with 90% of what Steve says on his blog. But you have to respect his imagination and courage. The person who came up with the phrase 'commands respect' was on to something. This is the kind of action that commands respect - whatever you might want to think you have no choice. So Steve is prepared to publicly auction his expertise in just about the largest forum that has ever existed in human history, in such a way that we all know just how much interest it generates and how much it gets knocked down for. How many people in a million would have the courage to do that? Or have thought of it in the first place? |

When I first started reading the post I associated "auction" with the idea of a "charity auction" since there seem to be a lot of those. But noooooo... The money is going to greedy mr. Pavlina. What has he ever done for us?! It's not like he pays for these forums to be hosted out of his own.... okay nevermind |

Then I can work through some judgment about not being charitable or giving enough. I don't think that "never good enough" is too much of a trigger for me these days, but we'll find out. I had fun telling Rachelle how much our conversation was worth while we were Skyping late last night. I wonder if I'll survive the week. | |

What a simple but brilliant idea. Experiments are always fun, and you have a track record for leveraging such experiments into big traffic boosts...and you get to help people. Very clever, and fun! -David |

| Whatever the final bid is, I don't think it will be an accurate representation of what Steve's hourly consultation rate should be if he were ever to go that route. Currently, this particular 1-hour consultation is a rare, one-of-a-kind "item". That's going to increase its value by a LOT. But if Steve ever decided to offer consultation-services at an hourly rate, it would no longer be a rare one-time-only event, and therefore the rate would likely not be as high as whatever the bid might end up as for this particular auction. |

| I was thinking more along the lines of a trip through the Amazon to hang with the Achuar for a week and a half: The Pachamama Alliance - Rainforest Journeys Several friends have done this and said it was a life-changing experience. |

Wow! Inspired idea! Although it just occurred to me that someone of *far* less high integrity than Steve could bid for themselves from another account (or get someone else to), thereby driving up the price... the worst case scenario being that they'd end up paying themselves money!! |
