| Just save the above and ftp them to your vBulletin's /images/smiles/ folder. Then in the admin panel look for the Add Smilies feature for the installation.

Can you post a link to the source of these images? Before I install new smilies, I need to make sure the copyright holder has made them available for free use with VBulletin... or that they've been released to the public domain.

Worst case scenario, you get a cease and desist order. | |

You’ll have to leave it to Steve/Erin for any official feedback on this matter, and I'm not sure exactly when you’ll see more emoticons (I have an idea, but for now I'm going to say "you'll have to wait and see"), but if you’d like to increase your chances of getting some new ones, my advice to you would be to come up with a reasonable set (ie. nothing too elaborate) of non-copyrighted (ie. free) emoticons that contribute to the existing emoticons or serve as suitable replacements and let Steve know where he can find them (ie. by providing a link or something). I’d also make sure that any recommendations include sets of both animated and non-animated emoticons, since, while I'm sure Steve will consider animated emoticons if they are beneficial to the forum, I can’t guarantee Steve will use animated emoticons (although he might -- don't quote me on that). Edit: Nevermind what I said about animated emoticons. For more info see Steve's post below. (For the record, I happen to agree with Steve. Animated emoticons have their advantages, but I think a forum -- or at least this particular forum -- is more suited to static, non-animated emoticons.) Well, I have done my bit by offering some of the smilies we use on our boards, so I will bow out of this project. Hopefully, you guys can manifest some good ones for this forum. I like smilies because good ones (like my examples) always trigger a smile on my face. |
