Default Is this why Steve Pavlina is so successful?

I was just listening to Eban Pagen in some of his YouTube Videos....and he was explaining the similarity between very successful brand names...

m&ms

coca cola

marilyn monroe

They all have repeating sounds in them that are psychologically pleasant to listen to and impossible to forget. Which is why he used the "fake" name of "David DeAngelo" for one of this businesses...and also called it "double your dating"

Then I thought Steve Pavlina.....it has repeating sounds too!

"eee ah eee ah"

And apparently repeating sounds like this are very attractive to our brains and very hard to forget

I also thought....Tila Tequila.....omg she has this too!

So it's a good thing I guess that I called my website "SociallyPositive" It has similar repeating sounds in it I guess....

but the name of my youtube channel "nosocialanxiety" is not so good, damn!

But my nickname here is good! "RoxyRuby"

Yes, I guess there's a lot more to it than just the name, but maybe the name helps ^ ^

what about "the beatles", "apple", "microsoft", "ibm", "toys r us", and so on? I don't think this means anything.... Though I guess catchy names are better for branding than non-catchy names.

RoxyRuby (referencing Eben Pagan) never said that it's a must condition.

Nope he's successful primarily because of the value he provides. It has nothing to do with marketing either cause he isn't doing it.

Steve does marketing all the time. Even the way he writes is a form of marketing, and he's done tons of interviews, speaking engagements, etc. I believe he never spent anything on marketing for a long time, but he talks about his marketing methods quite frequently. At least one of his articles mentions that a mistake many software developers make is focusing only on the product and not on the marketing.

Having a catchy name helps marketing. There are many other things that can help or hurt though, and no one thing is ever the end-all be-all of success.

Yes, according to Steve's perspective it would be bad not to do marketing because it would mean that he would reach less people.

Heck, look at the sales page for the third CGW. Steve gave it to a copywriter, so it isn't even true that Steve doesn't spend anything on marketing anymore.

Yeah, he's one of the few successful online entrepreneurs with the website called after his name!

Eben Pagan, for instance, has doubleyourdating.com and catchhimandkeephim.com.

Surely, the domain name says nothing to someone who's here for the first time, but, of course, Steve's content rocks.

I didn't pay the copywriter a dime. It's still true that I haven't spent any money to market my website, my book, or CGW.

I believe that one of the reasons Steve is successful is because he does what he is naturally good at - at identifying patterns. Steve is at the core an INTJ personality which makes him good at this sort of thing. His cognitive hardware is optimized for taking in large quantities of data and instantly identifying patterns within that data that nobody else can see.

The problem with most people is that they have no clue on how to use their hardware properly so they are stuck doing the kind of work that does not make full use of their natural abilities. Kind of like using playstation 3 to play pacman ;-)

I agree with you plus... Choosing a good name is essential for any product, or even a person specially if this person is doing the marketing.

I advise you to change your youtube channel name.

And I like Athena Marina very much as well.

I think you make a good point and it could very well be true but be careful not to fall into the trap of just looking for evidence to support your theory and not looking for any that doesn't

A name like his certainly helps, but it is not a prerequisite for success. I'm sure it helps his branding, but does little else. He is successful from all his hard work and knowledge, not to mention his brutal honesty about his life and his experiences. He is someone who just has an "it" factor that anyone with half a brain can discern from his writing style and depth of thought on a wide variety of topics.

His name does have a nice ring to it, though.
