I can come up with fresh topics on my own. They aren't usually the result of suggestions anymore because the suggestions usually just rehash old ideas I've already written about in depth.

I agree with what has been said before about emotions. Especially because you seem a pretty logical guy, it would be great to read more about emotions and how to deal with them (or not deal with them). Besides that it would be interesting to read about relationships. Not in the way of romantic relationships, but with friends and acquaintances. I must admit that is selfish of me, because that is the area of my life I'll be focusing on next. So... a beginner guide to making and keeping friends would be good Or for example a series of articles on how to get to know more people. |

Emotions -> Have you read Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman? That's a good place to start. "Read about relationships" -> There's a whole section on this subject in the bookstore. I've also written multiple articles "about relationships." There's a chapter in my book about this topic too. Also wrote about social skills a few times. For making and keeping friends, start with How to Win Friends and Influence People. "how to get to know more people" -> Go outside and talk to people. You'll find lots of them outside. Start with a nice hi. If you don't like going outside, use Facebook and PM a lot of people there to initiate online conversations. When you visit their cities, offer to meet up in person. Alternatively, become a stripper.

| I seem to be manifesting business opportunities in my life at this moment. They are still vague and require me to work on it, but I'm actually working on them, which is a huge step forward. After all, I have to prove to Zach that I can be a millionaire, that it is not just a "possibility" |

I know they might be basic questions for you, but like I said... I'm being selfish. That's where I'm at at the moment in my life, so that's where I'm thinking about I've also written multiple articles "about relationships." There's a chapter in my book about this topic too. But... that's my issue, not yours of course Another thought: How about doing personal coaching and writing a series of articles per client on how they are doing and what breakthroughs they are having, and what (which techniques) you used to help them? This is of course assuming that you are interested in coaching individual persons I realize completely that you are not looking for brainstorming ideas, but since brainstorming and shooting out ideas is a hobby of mine, I'm leaving this answer as it is anyway

This is a frustrating thread. I've been thinking about quality feedback I could give all day, but nothing is connecting... Steve has already covered all the deep questions in life, and hundreds more of on-the-surface topics... not to mention all the lifestyle experiments. How about you (Steve) revisit some important topics, such as the meaning of life, from a darkworker perspective. That would be fun and interesting. ....I doubt that resonates with your goals though.... Last edited by siryessir08; 06-05-2010 at 04:20 AM.

Edit: My topic suggestion would be to write something about morality. I have been thinking about morality quite a bit and have reached the conclusion that it is mostly an emotional reaction that is not to be taken overly seriously. But I would be interested in hearing what you think about it. Last edited by Chris_1977; 06-06-2010 at 07:04 AM. Reason: Added topic suggestion.

1. we grow and learn on a curve. many times we learn and grow the most in the beginning. for example, did mozart become a better musician in the first 10 years of his life or between his 10th-20th birthdays? by virtue of the fact the he went from being a baby to playing piano and composing by the time he was 5 or 6, he learned more in the first 10 years about music. depending on one's viewpoint, large components of personal growth have already been covered on this website. steve discovered (created?) the idea of truth, love and power already. trying to create more and more profound material for readers at some point could potentially reach a limit. this limit, in theory, lies in the distant horizon. but even if no more articles were written, this website has facilitated a lot of good for many people. thanks steve for sending out a lot of positive thoughts and vibes into the world!!! i personally am very grateful to have read your articles!!!! and even if articles continue at a similar level to current standards (assuming one subscribes to a system that can evaluate an article's value), they are very, very good and have brought a lot of the aforementioned good vibes and thoughts into life. would you not read the taming of the shrew because you thought midsummer's night dream wasn't as good as romeo & juliet? 2. steve, i believe if you haven't already done so, and without having met you personally, you would grow emotionally, spiritually, intellectually and socially by becoming fluent in at least 2-3 languages and traveling to at least 4 continents for at least 6-12 months. forgive me if i am mistaken but i am under the impression that you have not traveled outside the US except when you went to caribbean last year. and that you only speak english fluently. if you have, i believe you will agree with what i write in the following paragraphs. if not, i hope you do so and wish you many amazing travels! (and to everyone else who might be reading this, i wish the same to you all as well!) you would learn many things about the world and yourself by living in Africa, Latin America, Asia,or Europe (or Antartica or in martial arts, a 30 day trial in a shaolin temple would probably yield massive results. yoga? 30 days in an ashram in the mountains of india would be a true 30 day trial of yoga! i don't think you'd be bored, and good luck getting there too what about holding your workshop for kids in the amazon rainforest or for folks in scotland? perhaps some forces of nature would influence your work in a positive manner in ways that those existing in las vegas cannot? what about living in a house made of reeds in the countryside of africa? what views of life do you have that are actually just a reflection of a lifetime of interactions within a 20th-21st century north american culture? surround yourself with people and places that reflect hundreds and hundreds of years of other ways of thinking and living. and thinking in a different language provides a different viewpoint and a powerful tool for growth. how much of your thinking is in english? other languages will open new ways of approaching life. 3. well as one might guess, i really want to go overseas myself. i speak spanish fairly well but would like to become fluent in many languages! i admit that i should take my own advice and go travel again soon. but some of the most amazing experiences in my life have happened while traveling and so i highly recommend it to everyone, as well. steve, traveling is a very beautiful part of life that i think many people would love, including yourself. it's almost like sex. imagine your life without sex. now imagine your life missing something as big as missing sex, but you don't realize it yet. 4. hope to hear some posts from the himalayas soon hahaha i realize not everyone is in the place in their life where travel makes sense but i hope that everyone does have the opportunity at some point! |

Hey Steve, Some of the ideas you have mentioned previously about sex are interesting. Can you write an article about how to have sex before the first date? The idea of hooking up with your partners before dating them? How you would create that etc |

Steve, are you honestly in need of blogging topics? Because there are a few posts I've been meaning to write, but haven't been able to for one reason or another... Really, I'd rather read them than write them. I'd be great if you could write them for me. ;-) Love & Violence: For example, I'd like to read an analysis of the balance of love and violence in the Western world. Western culture is extraordinarily violent, and I wonder whether it is a reaction against or reflection of Christianity's obsession with the concept of "love" for the past two thousand years. (I've never been Christian, and from an outsider's perspective, "love" seems blown far out of proportion in Western culture.) What exactly is the relationship between violence and love? Law & Mythology: I'd also like to read about the role of Law -- man-made law -- in human society. Everyone thinks laws are essential to keep everyone in line, and policemen are necessary to enforce laws, but this is a convenient fiction. There are nowhere near enough police to enforce the law. Laws work because they are internalized (indoctrinated?) into everyone's own personal belief systems about what kinds of actions are right or possible. And yet -- here's the oddest part -- the "laws" we all follow are, usually, NOT what's actually on the books (what non-lawyer has ever sat down and read the laws?), but a weird collection of urban legends and stories we tell each other. Our ideas about "legal" vs "illegal" and, usually, "right" vs "wrong" are composed from myths and legends and what the guy said in the bar. Even things like speed limits are vague and mythological: everyone knows that you can drive faster than the speed limit, but how much faster? 5 miles? 7? Does it depend on the time of day, the day of the week? Is there a speed cutoff beyond which you can be arrested for a felony rather than a misdemeanor? Is it legal to install a scanner in your car? Etc. This isn't law, this is urban legend. It's laughable, especially when you compare it to things like the Great Law of the Iroquois. So yeah, I'll be looking forward to these. ;-) |

As for travel, I would love to travel around the world, but not just for 6 months. I'm thinking 1-2 years at least. I can already run my business from the road with a laptop computer. Lots of people have agreed to host me and show me around in dozens of different countries. I'd love to hang out with locals everywhere I go instead of staying in hotels and seeing only the tourist traps. Perhaps we could host meet-ups and do some workshops in various cities too. I'm taking a small step in that direction this month. I'll be visiting 3 cities in Eastern Canada (Montreal, London, Toronto). No hotels. I'll be in Canada for about 2-1/2 weeks. I'm traveling with Rachelle, who arrived in Montreal yesterday. She secured a small apartment there. In London we'll be staying with Karen Bell of ktotheb.com. In Toronto I think we're staying in a spare room someone offered. French is spoken in Montreal. I took 3 years of French in high school, and Rachelle speaks French reasonably well, so I've been practicing with her a bit. It will be fun to walk into a restaurant and exclaim, "Je voudrais manger. Aidez moi!" Okay perhaps not... I'm sure that extended travel would also give me lots of fresh ideas for new content, especially as I go to places that are very different from the USA. The main challenge to make long-term travel practical is the kids. I actually like the idea of taking them on the road sometimes. They would certainly enjoy trips to places like Disneyworld. I suspect they'd enjoy traveling outside the USA more as they get older (teenage years). I think that would be a much more interesting education for them than sitting in a classroom. This is the tricky part to work out with Erin. I'm not the kind of person who wants to see the kids a few days every week on a regular schedule. I'd rather take the kids on extended road trips for weeks or even months at a time. To me that feels a lot more "natural." I don't think Erin particularly likes that idea though since it means she'd have to go long periods w/o seeing them. |
