Default Other self development sites which are as high quality as Steve's...

I run my own personal development site, and I consider it to be pretty damn good. Now I'm on the look-out for other people who have a similiar lust for quality and actually have the experience and expertise required to host a decent site...

Short-term I'm looking to put up some links to the best damn sites on the net, and I'm certainly not talking about ZenHabits and Seth Godin

Long-term I'm looking to create a society of high-quality development sites.

I have literally trawled the blog-sphere to death and almost everything is trash.

Urban Monk is a good expection, that's a guy I'm definately fond of - www.urbanmonk.com

I also think that Mike at F.I.T has a lot of good stuff to say for himself - I think he's definately doing some good things - Personal Development : Inspirational Life-Hacks

But where else? People literally come to me and they say "I'm so grateful I found your blog in amongst all the other rubbish out there..."

But I believe there is quality out there, and I'd like to know where so we can connect a little more.

Reply or PM me links.

Cheers!

I don't know about good or bad quality, but these are my personal favorites:

About World’s Strongest Librarian

BLOG.FEELGOODONPURPOSE.COM: Expression Babies

811rv: Days 3, 4 and -1 – Nerves Management | Magical Chest

Raptitude.com

Not in any particular order.

BrianKim's website is a very good one. His articles are very useful, practical and down to earth, which i appreciate a lot.

**EDIT**: Wow, automatic website blocking. That i would certainly not expect from Steve. I don't know why i won't be allowed to post a link to a website that is VERY good, has high quality material. After all, aren't we all interested in Personal Development? So why block a link to a website that will help many people in their personal development journeys?

Afraid of a little competition, Steve?

Anyways, just google "Brian Kim" and you'll find it. I'd be upset if this post got edited or deleted; i really don't agree with this sort of censoring.

I found this site when googling Brian Kim, in fact I probably wouldn't of bothered searching his site, apart from the fact that it is blocked.
Whole lot of blogs on PD
Document

I really like yaro's site Internet Business Blog - Entrepreneurs-Journey.com by Yaro Starak for finance/personal development

We had problems with spamming of that URL here in the past. Our standard procedure is to add URLs to the censored word list in such cases, to eliminate the incentive for continued spamming. Before we did that, these forums were starting to become overrun by Internet marketers promoting their stuff every day.

I can't speak of BK's content since I don't read his material, but perhaps his marketing methods could use a little polishing.

Default Thanks for this post, Rags...

Yesterday I was trawling for the same thing. This gives me some places to look. I do sooo adore it when I get what I want! Thanks again, I appreciate it.

Thanks for the links RtoR.

Initially, my google reader was full of links from PD. As you said, the quality was not really good. I think the main reason is most of them do not write out of their own experience. I started unsubscribing and now I am down to very few.

Blogs I read include

Morty Lefkoe - Eliminate your beliefs quickly ... Change your life permanently?Guaranteed (R)

FranklinCovey Blog - Leadership, Training, LiveClicks, Workshops, Webinars

All the suggestions I have looked at so far here are nowhere near the quality of Steve's. I wouldn't bookmark a single one of them. Why is Steve so much better than everyone else? Is he the only one who has read 500+ personal development books, or is he just smarter?

exactly it, most pd sites the bloggers are just rah rah to much "me too vibe", maybe if there was a blogger who was as just successful I would read it. But steve's posts are just too smart. Almost very post creates shifts inside, I dont know any other blog than does that.

Only other blogs i like are
Real Life Spirituality
Extra Sensory Perception - Intuitive and Spiritual Development Blog

Those are psychic related topics steve wont discuss

Default Law of Attraction

I am WEB developer (CMS backends, wordpress, plugins, ecommerce)+ SEO guy + self-help junkie myself.

To combine all above into single fun activity I decided to undertake a project last weekend and created Law of Attraction Live Chat website:
http://www.loachat.com

Imagine - this domain was actually available!

My idea was to combine simplicity + live interaction + Law of Attraction into one online stop.
Let me know what you think.

Gleb

PS: I also have self-help blog and even forum but there is not much stuff going on there yet.

I'm a big fan of Zen Habits. It is a really great website that I highly recommend. It has gotten pretty popular and is a joy to read. I wouldn't say it is as deep as Steve's site, but it is a valued site nonetheless.

Is there website where people could set challenges and do daily reporting on them?
I noticed people tend to create sporadic "30-days-challenge" type of threads here, but would be nice to have one-place specifically dedicated to this.

I work harder at this than anyone else I know, and I take more risks. Most others in this field play it safe. They mostly do what's easy. I do what's hard.

Occasionally I get beat up, but I also find more diamonds.

I have a greater willingness to face my fears than most other bloggers in this field do. I'd say that's the main difference that has helped my site stand out. I'm willing to experiment with and write about the topics that would make them say, "I could never share that publicly."

Plus I don't have a day job.

Hey Steve,
I think you meant to say you spend lots of time doing what you love. That's a passion.
Doing what you hate is "hard work".

Doing what I love requires working harder than doing what I hate -- because I care more about doing what I love, so I will work harder at it.

I've read probably close to 1,000 PD books. However, I haven't finished every single one of them. After a few hundred, some of them are just crap so I would only get through the first few chapters.

My Blog is mostly focused on being a "Scanner" or "Polymath", so it's kind of along the lines of "Personal Development for Polymaths" which means I cover a lot of topics. Not sure if you're looking for that type of site, but my link is in my sig.

Why do you roll your eyes? I don't know much about Seth but I do know Leo is a great guy with a great site.

The blog of Tim Ferris is full of interesting and unique self-development type of stuff.

Steve's message clicks well with a lot of people. For some, it doesn't click well at all. For others, they love his past stuff and don't like his new stuff. It all depends on what you're looking for.

Rag said that people say to him, ""I'm so grateful I found your blog in amongst all the other rubbish out there...", but many have also said the same thing to Leo, to Seth, to Tim, and to many other bloggers I'm sure. All of these people have something of value they offer, just as there are many delicious fruits to eat. The question is what are we hungry for today?

Steve does work very hard at this and he has been doing it for longer than most bloggers too. They say practice makes perfect! When Steve created his site, I don't remember any other major self-development blogs in existence. He was a pioneer. Nice job Steve.

That's true. I first started moving on a meaningful path when I read The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh. I tried to re-read it six months later and couldn't, it didn't do anything for me. It wasn't that I no longer agreed with it or that I was on a totally different path, but I guess I was just moving onto the next stage of my life, which was more complex. Finishing a book I started before reading TNH was more helpful to me at that point, even though when I started the other book it didn't save my life the way TNH did.

But this is the only PD website I've ever seen that synthesizes huge amounts of ideas very well.

Paul, I'm checking out your website. I like how you put up info about your own personal development goals.

Yup, I do a lot of that on the site. Last year I tried to do the P90X program for 90 days straight. I did it for 58 days straight documenting every day with pictures of the food I was eating etc. and then I got off the plan. So I document my successes and my failures.

Right now I'm doing a challenge to lose 13 lbs by May 21st against another Blogger with a $600 wager I have to pay him if I don't hit my goal. I update my weight every day on the site so people can see how well I'm progressing (or not progressing )

That's a good idea. I should promise someone to lose 10 lbs or shave my head. That would be a pretty good incentive, seeing as I think I would look terrible with a chubby shaved head. Only thing is that right now I'm a bit more concerned with getting into shape... I want to develop long-term habits, not just a finished result that I could lose.

I had a similar experience with The Four Agreements by don Miguel Ruiz. The book helped change my life years ago and I'm forever grateful, but I tried to read it the other day and found the writing style to be repetitive and old news. I suppose it IS old news!

The blogs I am regularly reading are :

Steve's
Zenhabits.net
Mnmlist.com

which I believe must be in most of others' lists too
so I like to be referred to really inspiring blogs too.
Any more recommendations?
