how's that for good "data protection"?? "we can't give out personal information about people, cough cough, but actually... it's all true" --glad to know we have such stalwart guardians of the laws about institutions' ability to disclose personal data! of all the things steve says, i never even thought to question his claim about graduating in 3 semesters because he was so specific and repetitive with the story, and because i disagree with going about college in that fashion (having spent 9 years in academia myself, ha) so i don't think it's anything to brag about :-) --my beef with steve is his "you have created the world" malarkey. i simply know that i would never create certain smelly people who gravitate next to me on the subway, not even at my most masochistic. ;-) about once a month i notice something in my daily life and steve's essay will pop into my head, and i will think "not in a million years, even if i were bored silly by being the creator, would i have chosen for this to show up on earth", i then think, "darn you, steve pavlina!" because it's like a viral meme, this idea, and you put it in my head - aaugh. |

That's a really weird thing to doubt. I see absolutely nothing surprising in someone graduating with honors in just three semesters. People work better when they're focused. And the amount of information you need to learn in order to get a degree is really not that big. Mine and my brother's study experiences support this. My brother graduated in computer science with straight A's while working full time during his whole four years. He couldn't even go to most of his classes. He says he was so successful because he knew he wouldn't have much time to study in the end so he did his best to keep up during school years and didn't wait for the exam sessions to start. Turns out his effort was better than most students ever invest. I have been a total slacker ever since high school. I procrastinate everything and that is why my life sucks. Still, I did have one good year at University. It was the year when I had three jobs at the same time and hardly even slept. I did great at all three and also was the best in my course for that year. I even got a 6+ (6 is the highest grade here). |
