Great post - you turned me on to juicing some time ago, and I've been loving it too. I have to agree that cucumber is great to add to just about any juice I make... Love it - although I'm still acquiring a taste for celery!

This sounds good to me. Typical newbie questions from me will include:

1-is this expensive?
2-wouldn't you have to go to the bathroom constantly by drinking so much fluid?
3-Won't your stomach eat itself from hunger?

Sounds great to me though, I'll read the older article (that someone posted but is gone now).

Default Yum - Thanks for inspiring me

This is one of the most informative posts I've seen from you, and that's saying a lot. You actually inspired me to try abandoning dairy, coffee, processed food, and meat. I feel great so far!!! My mind is much clearer and I genuinely feel relaxed, almost in a blissed-out state, rather than hurried or anxious like before. Today I had a negative association with eating dairy--it felt like I would be "taking advantage" of the cow, which made me sad (normally I crave dairy more than anything).

I really love this article and it's going to make me juice much more than before. I usually put in a lot more ginger than you, but that tends to overpower the flavor. I'm really curious about trying kiwi and fennel--maybe other flavors like mint or oregano would be interesting too. I'm going to grab a lot more greens at the grocery store this week .

One typo:

If your curious if this would work

should be you're

Very cool, I really like these juicing articles and I'd like to do that diet myself sometime. Steve, now that you're on your own, you can do some really cool 30-day experiments... how about sungazing?

For what I remember, he has already tried sungazing and posted a few times on this forum.

Hey Steve, did one of the reasons you picked the name "Juicing and Physical Training" was to make people falsely associate it with steroids in sports ? Because that's how I interpreted it at first.

I thought, that must be some crazy stuff, either Steve's gonna blast the steroid users or he's going to put some major muscle

Lol. No, that didn't cross my mind. I totally missed the double-meaning of the word juicing.

Well, maybe if it ranks high in search engines (it's already #1 for a search on the article title), perhaps it can send some potential "juicers" down a more positive path.

The aerobic exercise thing doesn't surprise me - large amounts of sugar/carbs (which is what juice is) ahead of exercise improve physical performance. It's a well known effect that lots of endurance athletes take advantage of.

The weight training comments surprise me a bit. Steve, if you wouldn't mind answering two questions, I'd be curious about:

1) Some general indication of where you're at strength training wise - maybe something like what weight you think you could do 10 bench presses at.

2) Some idea of how much protein is in your general diet, and whether you supplement protein while weight training and if so how much and with what.

Initially though, the training effect tends to be more neurological than muscular...
I believe the book "Practical Programming for Strength Training" by Mark Rippetoe and Lon Kilgore describes this phenomenon. If I recall correctly, when you train, then stop training, your neurology adapts more slowly to the lack of training than your muscles, bones, etc. He warns that you can seriously injure yourself if you're not careful, because you'll feel like you can lift more than your muscles etc. are appropriately adapted to. I think this might apply more to the elite athlete though i.e. someone who does serious lifting with very heavy weights. Either way it's quite interesting.

Question Recipe books?

Good article, juicing without the magical exaggeration.
Does anyone have any suggestions for good juicing recipe books? I find myself making the same thing over and over.
