| Debauchery 1. excessive indulgence in sensual pleasures; intemperance. 2. Archaic. seduction from duty, allegiance, or virtue. Halloween is coming up in a few days. It's time for a 30 day trial in debauchery, starting on October 31. I propose the following: 1. Have as many partners as you can possibly get your hands on. 2. Partake in as many mind-altering substances as you think you can handle. You may do them sacramentally, privately, publicly, or intellectually. 3. Open the barriers you've placed on your sub-conscious mind. Express yourself through creative outlets you've previously stifled. Music and art are just the beginning. There are so many ways to connect with primal and raw creative energies... 4. Make more money than you can even imagine. Go out, hustle, and get your hands on a pile of cold hard cash, a pile bigger than you've ever seen. Smell it, fondle it, then spend it on something that tickles your fancy. If anybody wants advice on how to make the trial work, I'll be glad to give you pointers. At points, you will strongly consider whether you are indeed a god, the one creating your reality. Steve, let me know if you need a guide for this 30 day trial -Jesse

Because it feels good. Because it's existential. Because. And its an experience that can lead to conscious growth. One can indulge in a purely conscious way.

Think back to a time in your childhood, a happy moment. It doesn't have to be anything specific, really. Just imagine the sights, the smells, the sounds, and the textures in this memory. Now imagine the feelings attached to it. The warmth of the sun, the swoosh of the wind on the leaves, the smells of the outdoors or food or whatever. As you begin thinking about that, quiet your mind. Tell yourself that what's around you right now matters. Stop thinking of the future and the past. Focus on your breathing and how it makes you feel. Try and figure out what it feels like to be a cell in your stomach, somewhere deep inside of your abdomen. Clear out all other thoughts, and listen to your body. Now ask your body to send it all of the signals that it's getting. Don't filter any of them, just allow them all in as they are. Don't think about changing them, don't blame the pain on anything. Just feel everything as it is. Quiet all outside thoughts. Now look around your world. See it as it is, not as you think it to be. You'll begin to notice details that weren't there before. See yourself as a part of your environment rather than a being separate from it. Now do whatever you want. Say whatever you want. Sing if you want to. The state you're in at the end of that is the state you're in as a child. The idea is to free yourself from the grip of negative emotion, and to be emotionless. To just exist.

This is kind of a strange 30 day trial, but I like it. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time doing it. Just be sure to detox afterwards.

Or the "lives for money" 30 day trial. It's all about discarding virtue and temperance in favor of yourself.

A different trial.. Personally, if I was doing it, the only thing that I would not do is drugs. I don't like the idea of something other than my conscious decision changing my mind in a drastic way. And who knows if the effects are irreversible or not. But, to each his own. Good luck

This is timely for me as I've been seriously considering this for a while...at least for a month, won't hurt. I'm tired of being so virtuous...I've been being good for so many years now...I want to have some fun...of the indulgent kind. The only thing is I've been doing well in the martial arts I train with and my teacher is really happy with my progress, but he has a definite judgement against drugs and excess...and he' is a reiki master, so I just know he'd be able to sense that I've been indulging, and it would probably affect my progress? I've waited for years to find the right dojo for me so I don't want to blow it now...and he would expell me if he found out...(which is part of the appeal I think |

The point she was making is twofold: 1. The advanced don't always look advanced. 2. It's alright if things get a little messed up from time to time, especially as an alchemist. It's when things are at their most unstable that there's the most creative potential. Internal upheavals are great material for transmutation. Why not take a month off? Do a little running each day to keep your body conditioned and to soften the effect of any indulgences you partake in. Hell, if you're like me, exercise is a form of indulgence (I'm happiest when I can barely move). Fact is, if you think this would be good for you, or at the very least it's something you mean to do, you can find a way. The alternative is to make excuses.

I think I will. But I'm still a little worried that my teacher will know and I'll get thrown out of the dojo. He's quite sensitive to peoples energy fields...TM instructor, Reiki master and Black belt. I don't want to get kicked out, but I really feel like I need to do this I guess not worrying about it is the best way to go, as he will pick up on me feeling guilty and fearful of his detection of drugs in my system just as much as he would the trace of drugs themselves. |

I find this interesting, things which you wrote about: sex and money are some of the biggest motivations for many people. Some people thrive in it and are happy, some enjoy the hunt, but when they finally get what they want, they realise that it's not the key to happiness (thought it might be a part of it). If you are suggesting a realistic way to to makes those things come faster to you, I believe that could be a great and enrichening trial. I definitely interested and will check here again to see that you suggest. |
