I definitely like the videos too, though I like reading all the same. Both have advantages but it definitely adds value to have both media. On a side note, I think the intro jingle is a bit cheesy Last edited by theknightwhosaysni-NI; 09-14-2009 at 08:49 PM. |

Thanks for doing this interview Steve. I've been eating raw since March with a few exceptions. Like you, the occasional cooked food is not really a case of giving in to temptation, but out of a desire to experiment and test how cooked food now affects me. Largely because I'd like to be able to eat sociably from time to time with my family and friends. I certainly don't feel great the morning after a cooked meal, but I recover within 24 hours. The last time I did it, I'd actually say I was ill. Had a very mild headache and probably a temperature. Not good. Having done this several times now, the desire to eat cooked food is virtually nil, but I'm still not certain how often my desire to be sociable might overrule. (It hasn't yet!) On a related note, I've occasionally felt tempted by foods I hadn't touched in years before going raw. Chips (meaning British-style potato fries!) and cheese and ham toasted sandwiches come to mind. The temptation completely vanished in both cases with the same kind of realisations: 1. The trigger came through my sense of smell 2. It wasn't the food itself (I hadn't touched meat in over a decade) 3. Rather it was the emotional attachment to them as "childhood reward foods" The term "reward foods" maybe a bit misleading. What I mean is: both the "chips" and the cheese and ham toasties were specifically rare childhood treats. In a family that would rarely eat take-outs, these were real treats as a childhood - at a time then toasted sandwich makers hadn't quite made it into your average home... Thanks also for the advice about creating social support for change. Everything you and Erin write at the moment is relevant and helpful to my situation. (-: |

The sound problem is probably attributable to the fact that the Flip video camera puts the microphone on the host side. I guess they assume you're going to take it on vacation and narrate your trip from behind the camera as you go. So the person being interviewed doesn't have a clear shot to the microphone, it's behind the camera. Weird design.

| Yeah, I also had a big problem with the sound quality. I guess those Flip cameras are not very good for sound quality. They are rather inexpensive to begin with, but it's quite a shame that it isn't very loud. Steve, we can barely hear you, buddy. It's a shame they didn't build it so that the person being filmed has the microphone towards them, and not towards the host/cameraman.

I think these videos are great. It's awesome to be able to see Steve. It's a much more intimate form of communication. I've started to add videos to my blog too. It's great to be able to see the gestures that a person uses and the faces they make when they emote. I also completely agree about the social support that he talks about. If you are surrounded with people that think a certain way, you will undoubtedly think somewhat the same way. I've found this to be true in my life when considering diet, exercise, faith, relationships, and finances. What do you guys think? |

Hmmm...well its kind of common sense what Steve is saying, about bringing a change in your social environment to grow as a person... Well I seem to have a small problem with it.. One should always have a core group of friends/relationships...Its makes one feel connected...Also its easier then to interact/ignore/avoid other people whom you dont want to be with...I believe Steve mentioned about this in one of his articles... But doesnt changing your social environment too often, as a means to achieve your goals seems to be too (for a lack of better word) personal..You start losing your friends along the way...I am already on the path of losing my childhood friends because of my choices...Its ending not just from their side but from my side too...thats around 15 years of friendship gone... You can love all people..But in the end you need people to love you...you need people to open up.... |

This video shocked me a bit because it made me realize that Steve is actually ugly. Somehow I seem to have the belief that someone smart and courageous like Steve should be good-looking or at least not be ugly. Strange.....? I don't know.....

I probably just don't like his looks just because he has features that I am not at peace with in my own looks, so my mind enhances those features making Steve look worse subjectively than he does objectively. | |

Hmm, I don't think Steve is ugly/unattractive. Then again, I'm a dude, so I'm probably not the best judge of what's attractive in other guys. If anything, I thought that shirt he was wearing was a bit...er...ugly? lol I dunno. Anyway, the sound quality was pretty bad, I agree. I had my laptop volume up on maximum and I had to lift it to my ears to hear what he was saying. Oh, and that raw food jingle is hella annoying. lol |

I saw the second video. The social circle info was helpful, especially the part about the way to look at millionaires. I've been seeing anyone experiencing greater levels of success as somewhat distant from me so that could be a problem. And yeah, video does seem to have a bigger impact on me.

Viewed through a subjective reality lens... hmm... Let me see: I am creating interesting persons that I actually would at first be disinclined to associate with because they look bad. Then I am also creating persons that I am not very compatible with but that I would like to associate with because they look good. That would seem to be not so smart of me, so why am I doing that? Can't I just create people that look good and are interesting and loving at the same time? Maybe I am trying to learn the results of superficial judgment? Maybe I am learning better ways to associate with good-looking people? Maybe I am associating interestingness with ugliness? But why would I do that? Maybe I am just not very good at creating connections that are positive from all points of view and is always something missing from the picture? But why would I create such a reality? Does this make any sense? I am not sure whether trying to view this through the lens of subjective reality is really all that helpful.... there seem to be so many possibilities to interpret it and none of them really ring a bell. One thing seems certain though: I do crave the presence of a greater number of beautiful persons in my life. Maybe if that need was filled somehow, I would not be disappointed if someone happens to be ugly? I may have hit upon some truth here.... and it also makes sense from an objective point of view. Not really sure what to do about it, though. @Treszker: I agree with you about his body language. I do like that, it is very convincing. You really cannot fake that kind of confidence and congruence. |

While running the risk of sounding negative myself - I'm a little surprised at the negativity displayed in these responses. Steve I think this was a very informative post! And also, I'm excited to hear that you're planning on doing DVD's of your event. Count me in for one.

I really liked the stuff about shifting your social circle and going to conferences. I've been doing that recently and it does seem to pay off. Steve, I wish you'd do more posts about business rather than food. Will definitely be interested in a DVD of the workshop. I agree with others that the video posts are effective. Some of your recent posts have been on the long side, and I'm a pretty patient reader. So, +1 for a series of video posts about business / finance etc. P.S. I had to fast forward the jingle as it's unbelievably cringe-worthy. Last edited by nickynoodles; 09-17-2009 at 10:31 AM. |

I'm not keen on video in general. It's very inconvenient compared to text. Is anybody willing to make a transcript perhaps? Quote:
