That's cool the 33% rate of non-Americans attending. I suspect that registration rate of non-Americans will likely go down as we get nearer the time of the workshop due to the increased plane ticket prices.

However, what I'm curious about is how many Las Vegas locals have signed up already? I suspect Las Vegas locals will more likely wait until the last minute to register since there is no flight or hotel reservation to make.

Only 3 so far. That doesn't surprise me since only a very tiny percentage of our website visitors are local to us, and we didn't try to promote the workshop via local advertising.

Question

Anyone want to split costs of hotel room? I'm a college student from Southern California. Private message me if anyone is interested.

Ah?

I guess the only way you've tried to promote this workshop is through this website (and your twitter/facebook)? Or did you do any other type of promoting through other avenues?

Nope. I wanted to see how many people would register w/o any outside promotion. I was more concerned that we'd sell out, so I didn't want to overdo it.

"Visualize that you’re doing whatever you’d normally do that weekend, perhaps staying home or doing your usual weekend routine."

From the rational standpoint, the decision is hilariously easy to make. It's like, A) Risk $600, Reward ~Unlimited financial abundance, sex, and power. B) Risk $0, Reward-sit around apartment that weekend, and then continue same pattern rest of life.

From the irrational standpoint, it looks like this: A) Holy crap $600 is like 2 months of food! B) Security > Freedom.

That's why the exercise is funny - it's the one advertisement I've seen that appeals to the logic in a customer (or client as Abraham so fondly teaches). We really are seeing the end of the 2nd Wave and beginning of the 3rd (Toffler-style).

Well, you'll have at least one more

It was great timing too. I was backing up my browser bookmarks in preparation for installing Snow Leopard, and noticed that I haven't visited this blog in a while (I've been lurking for the past 2 years). If the upgrade DVD didn't arrive today, I would have missed the deadline. Not that +$100 would have been a dealbreaker, but it made my decision process go a bit faster.

Default Filming

Hey, I'm in a brainstorrming Idea mode, and I refreashing myself with AR stuff. I just happened to wonder, have you thought about filming your event to use later like he does? Or perhaps if privacy concerns, record it for the ideas it might generate for you later?

Yes, we're having a pro video guy record the whole event. This is mentioned in the workshop FAQ.

So, Steve, I'm sure there are a million of us now wondering what the workshop numbers are, especially those of us signed up to go. . How many total people signed up, and how many signed up in the last couple of days due to the deadline?

Popular opinion suggests the number is 42, more or less.

We're presently at 96 registered attendees. 15 of them signed up yesterday. There were only a few registrations on Sat and Sun, so most people who waited this long waited till the last possible day.

Erin and I are going down to the Strip this afternoon. First she's doing an in-person reading at the Mirage, and then we're going to Harrah's to discuss the room setup and A/V requirements with them.

I'm delighted that we seem to have booked the perfect room size, which is pretty amazing considering we had no way of knowing how many people would sign up, so I had to take my best guess. Our room can hold a max of 150 people, but we may need to reduce that a bit to accommodate the A/V setup in the back. Today I should get an accurate seating estimate, so we'll know exactly how many more registrations we can accept. I'm glad I didn't book a room for only 50 people, or we'd have had to turn dozens of people away.

Ah, Douglas Adams, 42 is not the answer...

I'm glad to hear things are working out so well, with the room size and everything. Even though I'm glad, I'm not surprised. Of course everything is going well!
