From: the Meaning of Life: Discover your purpose Steve: “Since my context of reality is based on seeing life as a process of ongoing evolution (and I use the term evolution merely in the sense of growth and change, not in the strictly biological sense via natural selection), then when I project this context onto myself, the result is very simple — I’m a participant in the process of growth and change. This is such a simple approach that it’s easy to miss. All you’re really doing is looking at your overall context of life and projecting those same qualities onto yourself. This projection becomes your purpose, your role in reality. “ With respect to "finding one's purpose" I found the method “Rational Intelligence” in the article “The Meaning of Life: finding one's purpose” much more helpful then the 20 minutes approach. Because I wasn't clear about my context of reality. It was amazing, how quick things fell in place when I applied this method. The reason why I write here is that I would like to know how context relates to reality. If LOA is a fact, then I would be manifesting my beliefs about reality, right? If I change my beliefs about reality, i.e. my context, I would change (my) reality then? To be more specific: my context about reality has always been a very harsh one: mankind exploiting and destroying nature (to the degree that the whole ecosystem seems to be endangered), the stronger exploiting and commanding the weaker, men exploiting women, mind ruling the body, eat and being eaten etc.. As I have been on the weaker side for all my life, my purpose has been quite set and it seems I have pursued it all my life, although not consciously (un-dis-covered): understanding why existence is as harsh as it is, how it came to be that way and work on changing it. Now, Steve has a context of constant “evolution” in the sense of growth and change. With respect to the relationship of mankind towards nature I do not see much evolution and I would like to know from others whether I see this correctly or not? Is there any correct perception of reality? What I can see so far is that I have not only pursued my purpose through all these years, I think I have also found most of the anwers to my questions, I just didn't have a context where to put them, but now I have. BUT, if my context is wrong, these answers are useless. Instead of focussing on finding answers on how to change the situation as I perceive it, I could just give myself another context and through this change the whole situation much more effectively? Lets say, if I had a context of “the stronger supporting the weaker, men and women cooperating respectfully, mind and body in harmony and mankind and Earth living together sustainably”, my purpose would be completely different from the one of the old context. I would just be part in this (how nice)! May be it is much more important to find the right context instead of the purpose, because purpose is dependent on context? And if LOA is truth, context is what manifests reality? Again not sure if I can transport my question. But, if I hold a context of for example the “rich exploiting the poor” I would probably have a purpose of “helping the poor” or “reduce poverty” or “empowering people”. What I am asking about is: If I focus on purpose first, I would actually need to create a context that creates poor people first so that I can help them!? That would be completely crazy, or not? Wouldn't it be better to manifest a context where there are no poor people who need “help” in the first place? Input highly appreciated. Thanks. |

| Sure. I think you're getting a bit lost in your own abstractions. Remember - the abstractions are supposed to help you with your life. If instead you're just getting lost in them, just dump them. Instead ask yourself really simple questions like: "Do I know what I want to do with my life today?" |
