Dexterity's games and articles...

What'll happen to those now that it's down?

I know some articles from there are here but not all of them... (unless I haven't seen them)

Yeah those articles were great and very helpful especially in the lovely old/golden days when Steve published my first game Pharaohs Curse.

Thank you Steve for your great work and supprot

Here you go!

Free Game Downloads - Dexterity Software

This archive has the articles, but not the games.

edit: some of the articles were gone by the time that archive was saved. Here's one from the beginning of 2006: Free Game Downloads - Dexterity Software

At least some of the articles are now hosted here on StevePavlina.com.

I guess he's stopped selling the games.

Steve, if you're absolutely finished with those games have you considered releasing them as Open Source?

Thanks for the link - some of those pre-StevePavlina.com articles were interesting. It's nice to see Steve's previous career.

Or making a statement that you allow people to distribute them for free?

I had sent him a message back when he first changed Dexterity to point to StevePavlina.com asking if he would be willing to give the games and articles to someone else or if he was willing to open up the source. His response:

"The developer articles and games are both fairly dated now, so I don't intend to do anything more with them. It would be more trouble than it's worth to me to continue making them available. Several of the articles, however, were updated and moved to StevePavlina.com/articles. The old articles section on Dexterity now forwards there automatically."

It's too bad because even if he thinks that they aren't worth the effort, someone else might. Even if he doesn't put forth the effort, I doubt he needs to keep his source code proprietary and could probably allow someone else to properly fix things up and release them.
