Intellectual Property of stuff posted in forums?

I wanted to clarify: Who owns the stuff we post in the forums? I probably agreed to something when I first signed up, but I can't find it now.

What if I want to post something here for comment then post it on my blog? Can I do that, or does Steve take redistribution rights of whatever we post here?

In general you own the intellectual content that you produce.

You however agree via the forum rules that Steve can keep the post online for as long as he pleases.

Post responsibly - These forums are very popular and very public. Be aware that what you post here will become part of the permanent archives and will therefore be available online for an indefinable period of time. Other web sites, including search engines, may link to what you wrote, making it easy for others to find. Moderators will NOT honor requests to delete, edit, or otherwise alter your posts or username. If it is important to you to keep certain details of your life private, do not share those details here.

We also have the rule:

Avoid cross-posting - Don't cross-post the same message to multiple forums or to multiple websites. This will be treated by the moderators as spamming. Use your best judgment to select the single most appropriate forum for your post.

Can you please clarify that? Presumably it's not intended to prevent you taking material you've posted here and hosting a copy on your own site? It seems like it's just intended to prevent spamming of posts...

Presumably it's not intended to prevent you taking material you've posted here and hosting a copy on your own site?

It's intended to prevent behavior like:
1) Writing a post to promote a book by an author and then submitting that post to 80 forums all around the web.
2) Someone opening a thread for everyone of his blog posts to promote them.
