Hi, New, here.......hi to all.......... I was reading the 10 reasons you should not be religious and I found all 10 reasons to be exactly why I do not believe in any religion. To the contrary, I have a son who is so weak that he believes in all the nonsense of his religion and though he is so conditioned when he is a part of this religion that it does not bother me what he believes in. When it does bother me is when he comes home and begins to preach to me and expects me to follow him in his "Faith." I do not want to offend my son in any way and find myself getting so frustrated at the fact that he expects me to go to his church and allow myself to go to the front and let his idiot of a pastor put his hands on my head to forgive me of my sins and bless me. That is just not going to happen. But, I loved Steve's reasons. |

keep an open mind. let your son ask his questions and explain it as good as you can. for questions you can't answer, tell him you'll find out and ask him to help find the answers. there are a lot of things being an atheist can provide to a growing mind. religion has good things to offer too. set a good example and teach your child to doubt. that is the most essential factor of being a critical minded person. teach him to question. examples such as the holocaust and virgin birth, the talking snake will really help. make it visual. |
