Steve, I really don't like that big paraliminals ad. The flashing, blinking, and nasty, pixlated colours add too much noise to the signal. Please consider using something less intrusive. I expect that ad is generating a lot of money for you. But it's really annoying. I'm a longtime reader (from your dexterity.com days) and generally trust you (even when I think you might have lost your mind :-) )... but that ad makes it too hard to concentrate. I adblocked it. But some of your other readers might not know how to do that. |

Why not cut and paste the content text into a work processor/notepad (use text wrap), etc. and read it there? I don't exactly like the glitzy ads either, but Steve deserves the income they generate.

For those interested, you can adblock images by installing the adblock extension in Firefox, then right click on any overly annoying ads and select 'adblock'. Then you'll never see that specific image again. I like Steve's stuff, but I also found that image really annoying, The one in the top of the forums or on the top of the pages isn't so bad, but it really draws the eye (which is probably the point). I'm interested in paraliminals, but honestly I've always found Testimonials more interesting than flashing ads. But hey, different strokes for different blokes. |

I hold my mouse button down on the browser scroll bar to stop the blinking -- seems to interfere with it somehow (OSX/Safari). I'm not a fan of ads with looped or unprompted animation, but those that give you the option of hovering over to see the animation are much better. I tend to give more attention to what's being advertised when I'm given the option of whether or not to activate the animation. |

| Re: Let's put up with it so Steve can make money Steve makes a lot of money from his site without counting the paraliminals stuff. He's also said that he's not trying to squeeze every penny he can from the site as making timeless and helpful content is more important. There are other ways he can attract attention to paraliminals without annoying flashing images. -- Re: Just block it / copy paste outside the browser / perform some other workaround. That's find for you and me who know what we're doing. Not everyone does. It's hard enough for us all to become one with the universe without that thing intruding into our consciousness -- Re: It's worth the pain to get the free content Are you suggesting that we can pay Steve to not annoy us? -- Re: It will go away soon, just put up with it The current promotion will go away sooner or later. But if Steve feels this sort of advertising works well and is accepted by the community he will continue to use it for the next promotion. -- I really don't like it. I think other people won't like it and it could even drive people away. That's why I hope Steve will reconsider and use some other kind of advertising. |

| Unfortunately, unless Steve choses another sponsor than Learning Strategies, we are going to have to put up with that type of advertisement. He mentioned earlier that the ad is one condition of their sponsorship. As for myself, I pretty much ignore it.

I guess I didn't really make something clear in my first post. I'm not against Steve making money, on the contrary, I'm glad that he is. (Especially since he claims to want to use it for the greater good). Thank you for pointing out that Paraliminals required the use of those banner images (I missed that post). I guess that nixes the idea of replacing them with something else. Now I just hope that the next promotion will give him more leeway. :-) |

Am I the only one who is not annoyed whatsoever by these ads? There are sites out there with many many blinking ads which make sound too(which IS annoying). That Esc thingy in Firefox is pretty cool, didn't know it existed. |

I can understand posting to give Steve a "heads up" about something that might push people away from his site, but why not just send him a private message? Firefox does take care of getting rid of unwanted advertisements nicely so why go to the trouble of starting a thread. ( I've done my share of gratuitious whining too.......no offense ) |
