Default Why Steve is still too mainstream ;)

He still eats food (no sun gazing)

He drives, likely wears shoes (and clothes )

No solar panels or other alternative energy sources powering home

Kids aren't homeschooled (or better yet, unschooled)

Doesn't explicitly follow attachment parenting

Plays video games

Has carnal, heterosexual desires

I rest my case

Next thing you'll say that because Erin didn't have unassisted child births they're too mainstream!

Perhaps it would have been better understood had I posted it under the humor section.

My kids have common names (i.e. Emily and Kyle) instead of Sunbeam and Oceanis.

Steve doesn't talk to fairies, who speak in dolphin language (as far as we know).

- apparently a vanilla sex life (according to the last post) ;-)
- no permaculture living goals (at least that I know of...)
- did not build own home, from scratch, in a tree
- longterm breastfeeding (in the past - so who knows? )
- where are the burlesque performances?
- does not make all his own clothes and cleaning solutions

Clearly, it is hard to be more mainstream than Steve

Steve hasn't changed his own name to something new-agey like "Oceanis" or "Moonbeam" or "Quantum"

He hasn't given up all technology and left us to live in the woods.

Since we're on the topic of mainstream, I had a thought earlier. I almost feel like there are many kinds of mainstream. There is the "main" mainstream, but there are other mainstreams. There's a Christian Mainstream, a Gothic Mainstream, a New Age Mainstream, etc. Many of these other mainstreams try hard to not be like the "main" mainstream, but they end up just falling into another mainstream. Or substream, if you will.

It's like those kids in high school who try so hard to be "unique" and all end up dressing the same.

Thanks, all, for reassuring me that my niche of personal development for queer poly transgendered pagan unschooling geeks is still secure, despite the fact that the "poly" is no longer unique. (:

Unschooling is awesome.

It could become mainstream and the public school system instead devote all resources to providing incentives and subsidies to support unschooling endeavors.

eww dairy products!

Although I suppose you'd be looking for green-smoothie fed dairy sources... I wonder how healthy that milk is.

There is a subculture that makes breastmilk cheese and creme and everything. That would be an.... interesting... 30 day trial

c'mon you all have missed the obvious. He lives in Vegas! Probably the most unsustainable, hedonistic city in America, if not the world. It's the city built by gangsters, for gangsters. People go there to piss their lives away, not engage in "personal development".

Default Other reasons Steve is too mainstream

-He sleeps inside a house, not outside gazing at the stars
-He still wears clothes.
-He walks on his two feet instead of walking on his hand.
-He only speaks one human language fluently (ok, that's mainstream American only )

ROFL! I was talking about the KIDS, I tell ya (unless you're planning on having more )

Of course, if you do get involved with a woman who is still nursing, I can tell you you will notice the...sweetness. Or so I've been told (and often by guys that don't know I am nursing, so it's not psychosomatic).

Erin and I talked about having more kids, but we aren't sure.

It's never been a problem getting pregnant though, especially with our vegan fertility.

LOL. I worry about pregnancy for esentially that reason, plus family history. I have no desire for an oops baby - the benefit of having kids young in my mind is that 40 is a whole second adulthood (like, more time for poly exploring, for starters ). And I have ZERO desire to be on hormonal birth control.

Personally, I don't think I'd want to go back to diapers once the kids are out of them!
