First polyamorous joke on the board: (This really happened!) Me: Sweetie, you know that blog I read. Well the couple have decided to start seeing other people. Have you ever thought about being polyamorous? Husband: No, but then I don't fancy parrots. I just had to share! Last edited by Holistic Star; 01-03-2009 at 01:23 PM. |

| Me: You know that guy who wrote "10 reasons not to have a religion". Well, he and his wife have decided to see other people. Have you ever considered getting involved with other women? Husband, genuinely horror-stricken: God help me! One is more than enough!! I think I've scarred him for life |

I am kind of in the same frame of mind your husband seems to be in. I have one woman as a life mate and can not see myself enduring the increased complexity of several. I can see the ability to genuinely love many people deeply and be committed to them but the mental, emotional and even physical gymnastics necessary to live this lifestyle seems overwhelming. I have no negative beliefs about such relationships in general just a belief that it's complicated and personally my mantra has been "simplify, simplify, simplify." | |

I heard a joke similar to that. An amercian reporter is talking with a arab gentleman who has a number of wives each with their own house. The journalist suggests that it must be great to have so many wives. The arab says 'are you kidding, I have a different wife for each night of the week. It means that each night of the week I have to take out the garbage' |

Hee! That reminds me of a cartoon I saw years ago; I don't even remember which one it was anymore. The caption was something like "why you seldom see reverse polygamy." The picture was of several men sitting on the couch watching TV and a woman standing in the doorway saying "So...none of you took the trash out."

Polly is a common name for parrots. People teach them to say 'Pretty Polly' or 'Polly wants a cracker'. Not sure why - theories abound on the internet. But as with all jokes, they lose something in the explanation! glad you're finding it funny either way.
