Default How did you achieve the success you have?

Hi Steve,

I was reading the article What Kind of Year Do You Want to Have? and I came across this point:

Quote:
In October 2004 when I started this new web site, I knew my primary focus for the rest of that year and for 2005 would be making the transition away from game publishing and getting my new business running smoothly. This meant creating lots of content, building web traffic, expanding my network of contacts, and generating new income streams. The main goal was to reach the point of sustainable profitability.

But now that I’ve reached that point, my primary aim has shifted.
It all must've seemed overwhelming at one point, knowing you had to achieve all those things as just one person. But you did it, and probably by taking some specific actions every day. My question is, how did you plan your time and the activities that you had to do, to make all those things happen?

E.g at one point you knew your goal was to have a successful blog, then you broke that down into the different things you'd need to have, e.g creating content, getting traffic, etc. You perhaps set some quarterly and yearly goals.

Did you then create short, daily activities that you could do every day to make those quarterly/yearly goals happen? Is there a specific planning technique you used, or did you do it on just auto pilot?

Of course he isn't going to do the exact same thing. He explicitly stated he was more interested in Steve's methodology. I don't know why you'd try to imply that he has nothing to gain from a good answer to his question.
