The only person that really supports my position of taking some time off is my husband. When I look at Steve's advice, I see that I don't have to have the DESPERATION of "NEEDING" a job. This thought would make my life literally miserable. I hopped to my current job because I had a family issue that was taken care of about month into my job. In retrospect, I should have taken FMLA or some sort of leave without pay and stayed at my last job, because it wasn't that bad. My #1 goal is to move, take a breather, and take a little time raising my daughter. My daily visualizations consist of these thoughts. I can see my goal in sight and I'm moving towards that every day. The desperation of getting a job just because it's the status quo really irks me. My husband got laid off last year and my family still bugs me about him getting a job. Yet, we have more money and are a lot more freer than we were last year making almost twice as much. He's a lot less stressed, and he's been able to get far along enough in his schooling to get an even better job than last year or freelance. Being free from being required to have a job is not a magic pill, and it took (me personally) years to reach the point where I feel the freedom. I think my family and coworkers resent that in me because I truly feel like it's my choice to work (or not). Re:vegbear. I feel you about having experience. I had internship and work experience and I can comfortably say I can do freelance taxes like at H&R Block or take the CPA exam and hang up my shingle. Don't get caught up on "never getting a job". Think about your future job experience as just that, getting experience. And you can still do your graphic design on the side. HTH.

In my own personal opinion, though, I don't think Steve's message is for everyone. And I don't think he pretends that it's for everyone. I read somewhere where he said his "mission" in life is to influence the influencers (or something like that) and hence his message is targeted to people who should be starting their own business but have not done so out of fear. I don't think he's trying to get everybody to quit their jobs. Just the ones who aren't happy working a job.

Hmmm, i suppose, black and white solutions like "You Should Never Get a Job", and a "Fixed Income is a Sucker Bet" are more easily digestible and far more appealing than well balanced and fully researched arguments. It's easy to forget these are opinions from a single persons perspective. That said, I am enjoying reading what I have recently found on Steve's Blog -wenzday jane |

| Again, his appeal is to a certain group of people. When you appeal to a certain group of people, you really don't need to give a more widespread approach. You discover that some people will be receptive to what you say and others will resist. Those that resist can go find a blog that appeals to what they want to do.
