You see 11:11 a lot, eh? Well, that explains why you pointed it out in a post of mine. Your challenge does sound tough, and it's good you've got such a trained discipline to keep it going. I'm rootin' for ya. By the way, if that devil gives you trouble again, I hear a good piledriver shuts 'em up real nice. |

Hi, Steve. I may have missed it somewhere, but when you make your juices are you making them all equal parts of each ingredient? If not, would you mind blogging about various ratios of fruits/veggies that taste best to you?

I see 11:11 all the time. I'm still not 100% sure what it means though. As a matter of fact, I saw it tonight while watching Family Guy. 11:11 on 11/11. I also see 9:11 quite a bit, but not to the extent of 11:11. Glad your juice fast is getting better, Steve.

Day 9 I don't have such cravings till date. But gas has now become a problem , because of high apple consumption over last 2 days. I will try some sea salt as suggested by steve for water retention. (The cravings were so strong that I was literally clawing my hands on the kitchen counter.Steve.) |

Hi Steve I'm probably stating the obvious but perhaps your body just needs fat, hence the cravings. Coconut water may give you some fat and perhaps you can juice up the full jellylike insides of young coconuts (if you're not doing so already, the post implied you're just drinking the water). I'm not raw or vegan but I'm something of a coconut enthusiast, it's one of those foods which I feel gives strength and vitality soon after consumption, and I do really miss it when I don't get my daily coconut fix! My personal favourite way to get some coconut goodness (aside from fresh coconut) is to add coconut oil to various foods, but I guess oils aren't allowed on a juice feast! Good luck with the rest of the trial Last edited by PeaceCat; 11-12-2008 at 11:17 AM. |

As someone who didn't like this experiment in the first place... I will admit reading this experiment is helping me keep a more open mind. However, from what Steve describes it seems like he's using too much force to counter his physiological reactions, and there's certain to be some kind of backlash from that. Quote:
When we don't experiment "to what society considers extremes", doesn't the universe hit us with things much harder than what Steve is doing to himself? Gives people cancer to have individuals follow their dreams etc. Humanity certainly needs more people willing to take "huge" risks in order to improve it at the present moment. I'm not sure if others feel the same way, but a second thing that this experiment is helping me is to simply allow others to be what they choose. I've also found myself to be "heavily" invested in what Steve does... but much less so after reading this experiment. Being "heavily invested" mentaly in something other than the present moment can only lead to misery. Others who are amazing in some ways may be mediocre or simply bad at other things. Being mentally heavily invested in something blinds you to the bad and you get a less accurate picture of what you are looking at. If it really screws Steve up, then we all learn our own individual lessons from it. If it doesn't, and the experiment ends up helping him, then some of us may consider giving it a go if we consider the rewards that he describes are compelling enough. Either way, even if he stops mid-way, it's a good thing for most interested parties. A third thing this experiment is helping me is that I have found that I have much increased my awareness of my salt intake and sugar intake (and cut both down) since this experiment started. A syncroncity happened yesterday too where I drank a coconut juice after asking the "Fresh juice" guy near where I work which juice is the least watered down. Interesting how that works. There seems to be some element of been addicted to not been addicted to food or to anything for that matter, to prove his will. That is not healthy if its a major underlying motive. Health food fanatics are a curious bunch; in many cases their improved diet has become an addiction itself. Dom |

I have to admit, I am seriously worried about Steve's health with this experiment. Don't you think the fat cravings are because the juice diet is extremely low in fat, to the point of being unhealthy? It seems very possible that you could induce permanent damage to your body from a severe fat deficiency.

One thing I have loved about your work is the bold approach to your unique insights and challenging the reader to figure out what information holds true for them. Just saying...I'd love to read it and I'm sure other would as well. Last edited by JoeRad; 11-12-2008 at 09:15 PM. Reason: Speling correction

I really don't know what 11:11 represents in numerology. Or any other field than history. To be honest I have no idea what any of you are talking about. I'd read this article. Here's a link: 11:11 (numerology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) 11/11 is armistice day in some European countries and veterans day here in America. It celebrates the end of WWI, and more generally, all veterans. |

For last 2 years 11:11 has been very significant in my life. It comes to my attention on almost daily basis. I always thought this was just a coincidence. Makes me really wonder now that you brought that up. I am looking forward to your article about it. Hope you decide to write one. |

Ok, so this was mentioned before but I didn't see an answer (unless I missed it). Specifically: How can you tell the difference between an 'addiction' craving for food, versus your body crying out for some specific nutrient it's lacking? I remember a doctor telling me once that people with salt cravings are lacking iron, because (in nature) salty has become associated with meat, so when the body craves meaty iron it craves salt. I know there have been many times in my life when my body has craved something. Sometimes its defnitely "comfort" foods - I'm sure my body didn't NEED to eat Cap'n crunch, for example. But sometimes it's the body asking for things in short supply. After all, we don't call a craving for water an 'addiction' talking - we call it thirst. so how can you tell the difference? is it emotional content? does the need feel different? |

11:11 has haunted me my whole life. I decided to fictionalize it instead of writing an article, though, so my novel now has some 11:11 stuff layered in with the rest. Hint: it's a "galactic portal," although some people don't consider that fiction. ;-)

Funny, I never see 11:11 at the clock. However, today I was driving and after a while I checked the kilometer meter, and yes... it went from 111.0 to 111.1km after refeuling. Well, for me it is still a co-incidence, but I will certainly look for more opportunities to see 1111 |

Hi Steve, You keep referring to "detox" in your juice feast blog posts. I'm wondering if you can point me to any scientific studies that show that detoxification does occur during juice fasts, raw eating, etc., and exactly what that detoxification process might involve. Thanks! |
