Wow... Since you charge by the hour for consultations, and there is an infinite amount of time in the astral plane, the value of the astral consultation ALONE is worth the book sticker price an infinity of times over...! I am SO there. I'll bring a big heap of gratitude from my own stockpile, and we'll trade. Hmmm... What's your astral address?... stevepavlina.esp? |

Hey Steve, *waves hi* Kyeli and I received our review copy of the book today! We can't wait to read it and review it! However, your special bonus offers were so awesome that we went ahead and bought another copy just to get 'em. If you see me on the astral plane tonight, please let me know what happens because I'll probably forget, okay? (; Also, I really loved your interview with Leo. It moved me to tears twice: once at the part about success and once at the part about people coming out of the woodwork to help you out as soon as they know you're going to do it with or without them. Take care! (: -Pace |

It took a while to read the interview on Zen, and it is worth it! I like Leo's point of view in this world. Still, Steve sales pitch and all the bonuses made my day! Love and gratitude to you all, Peek |

Nice interview. It's nice to hear a bit more about you as a person. Although I thought you would play more with your children on the weekends Well I know what I am going to treat myself to for my birthday which is coming up soon, Steve's book!!!! Anyone know if the book can be purchased in Australia yet? Otherwise I can just order it from Amazon. Last edited by ellie; 09-25-2008 at 11:06 AM. |

Hi Steve I love your modus operandi and that you "don't centre your life around profit motive" - big lesson in that. Thank you. Facebook still confuses me a bit - I'm not talking technically, but, simply why it is there, what people like/don't like about it, what is THE fascination etc ? People appear to sort of advertise, but it seems like a bit of a flop in that respect or as if it hasn't got off the ground yet. I find it bazaar to see friends posting daily "status" notes like "I'm cleaning the cupboard". Is it too soon for you to give some of your thoughts on it? Well, I'd certainly be interested for you to keep us posted on your Facebook experiences. Thank you, Juliet |

It had some interesting ideas, but I thought a lot of the tactics it documented were manipulative. I don't think it's a good idea to lower people's consciousness just to be more persuasive. I don't believe in generating sales at the cost of treating people like cogs in a machine. I partly went down that path in my 20s, and it made me feel slimy. There are some ideas from the book that naturally benefit me as a high-profile blogger. For example, I obviously have a lot of pre-existing social proof for my work. But that came as a result of working really hard on creating good content. When I didn't have social proof, I just moved forward without it. If you don't have social proof, I don't think it's wise to fake it. It's more important to get honest feedback from people on your early work, so you can use that to improve the quality of your material. That way when you finally do have some social proof, it will be because you earned it, not because you faked it until people started swallowing your marketing. Otherwise if you try to fake it, you end up being very inauthentic. This would be an interesting topic to explore in a future article. | |

About the facebook page... Douglas Adams spoke here in 1996, and almost his entire speech was about the internet and the wonderful possibilities he saw therein. It was very, very inspiring; he had a strong vision of the community-building potential, and how we might use it to better the world. It's one of my favorite speeches I've ever attended, not just because I love the author and his work, but because of the hopefulness I felt about the world afterwards. I feel the same hope when I read your words here! Thanks, Steve!! |

Last night I enjoyed an astral consultation with mr Steve Pavlina, author of Personal development for Smart People. I was traveling with a friend, and we sat down at a table. Suddenly Steve showed up and sat next to me. I didn't even ask consciously for a consultation, but as I am a pre-sale buyer of his book, I guess Steve just couldn't resist dropping by. That's what I call customer service! I must say that we had an enjoyable talk. At some point I asked Steve how to accomplish a certain goal and he took a calender from me and colored it with a planning of when to take certain actions. After that we said goodby and I continued my travel. I'd say the positive feelings and advice are well worth the normal cost of 500 A$ (astral dollars) and recommend astral consultations by mr. Pavlina. |

Hahahaha! Steve, you're like a humor-marketeer. The last part of this article was basically the best sales pitch I've ever read in my life or could possibly imagine. Just ineffable. Love it. I'll see you.... in the astral. Last edited by Andreas; 09-30-2008 at 02:57 AM. |
