Oh take note that the show will rebroadcast at 5pm Pacific time, and also 10pm pacific time, which may work out better if you're in a far off time zone. in fact, this page lists all the rebroadcast dates and times. You would only be able to call in for the live show, but if you just want to hear it, find a day and time on this list. | Individual emails answered for one easy payment of $500. Seriously though... @Steve: I just listened to the show and sent you some feedback via email. I didn't use your contact form since I wanted to use some formatting that your contact form doesn't have. If that causes you to not get it, just PM me and I'll submit it through your contact form. |

| After the break following um-ba-rella-ella-ella-eh-eh-eh, would it have been fair to be this direct in summarising: Quit whining about how close you are to some secondary gain for repressing your spirit. Just drop the degree already! |

It was nice. That degree caller reminded of my situation a little bit. I have more stuff to complete to get a piece of paper. But I have already decided it's not worth the trouble to do all that work. Sure it'd be something to use when looking for a job, just being able to simply say you completed this thing. I've been through all the courses already. I have also completed the equivalent of her final paper thingy, in my case there's some courses I just didn't care enough about to finish. The difference between us is probably that I never went in with the mindset that I needed the paper saying I know stuff. I went in with the mindset that I'm there to learn stuff I want to learn and have fun. When I could no longer get that out of school, I left. I still spent some time thinking about finishing the program but that just didn't feel good. |

| I agree there seemed to be a disconnect there. She was stuck in wishy-washy positive affirmation land, and didn't seen to get Steve's logical and rational approach to personal development. Maybe she was just trying to grasp it herself.

Unfortunately this radio program is not published in standalone mp3 format; it uses a streaming media server of some sort. Although it would be possible (but unethical*) to copy the show into a standalone audio file, the publisher/copyright holder doesn't appear to want it used this way. Perhaps Steve would be in the best position to persuade them to do so, or we can start a letter-writing campaign to the station. I found it excruciating to sit through the presentation at normal speed, and I was very tempted to turn it off during the second caller's long question. *I believe recording the audio stream for personal use falls under "fair use," but publishing that file would be stretching it. Hay House Radio offers access to their show archives for a small fee of $4 per month. They call it the Wisdom Community: Hay House, Inc. | Wisdom Community This also includes other benefits like discounts on their products and conferences. Attending one conference would more than pay for it. |

I think if Steve does future interviews they'll be better. The format they use lends itself to iterative development, much like blogging. It's not like, say, writing a book or doing a audio program. With familiarity with Steve and his content will come better questions, and hopefully, more individualised interviews.

| Well, you can't just sign up for 1 month. You have to sign up for 12 months at once, so it isn't really $4/month. It's more like $48 to be able to access Steve's interview, along with all of the other saved interviews.

It's again the question of whether you think it'll bring you the value that it costs. ;-) As for attending conferences: They're a bit far from where I'm at, so that unfortunately doesn't work. Then again USD 48.00 for a year of (archived) content isn't bad at all. Library cards aren't always free these days, and, even though you get a lot of books with a library card, I doubt there'll be that much focus on personal development like with the 'Wisdom Community'. Personally I haven signed up, because the show is going to be re-broadcast a few more times... |

Thanks for that, JohnnyJimJams. Quote:
It's disappointing when someone has the opportunity to interview an author about a book (especially a presumably great one like this) and doesn't bother to fully read it. If she isn't totally familiar with the book how is she supposed to come up with high-quality interview questions?

The link still works here. It should bring up a hay house window, and about half way down the page you'll see a title "Listen again archive" then click on the link directly below that: "August 11, 2008: Personal Development for Smart People with Steve Pavlina" Another window will pop up (make sure you allow this pop ups if IE tries to stop you), then click the play button of this new window in the bottom left corner. And voila. Hopefully. I don't know that this is a permanent link but I stumbled across it by just surfing around the hayhouseradio site. Good luck. |
