| These forums were fun, like 2 years ago or whenever they first started. It feels now like, there are too many people here with different issues, and too many people seeking therapy and whatever else is related to their negative stuff. This "polarization" is very much the opposite of what it seems the premise of this forum is, which is growth and optimization. From neutral to positive state, not negative to neutral. There's a big difference between going to a psych ward, a therapist, and a life coach. The difference between seeing Freud and seeing Abraham Maslow. What happened to intellectual, progressive discussion? Is there any other place for college kids to gather and chat once in a while about actualization, of self and humanity, here in the ether? |

| Panda, could I ask if you've ever contributed to these forums more than this one post where you express dissatisfaction with the site?

I don't see why the two can't co-exist - why some can't use this forum for working out their own personal issues, and others use this forum for intellectual discussions about actualization.

| Why not create the conversations you want to share with others? Start a thread with the topic that interests you. It appears replies will not meet your standards, however, so maybe you should just move on. I know I am not adding to any "intellectual" conversations, so perhaps I am one that bothers you, too. There are different ways to improve. Different ways to grow and learn. Different ways to reach goals.

-- Emperor Joseph II in Amadeus Everybody is in exactly the right place with exactly the right number of issues, seeking exactly what is perfect for them to seek related to their perfect stuff. Including you! It could be said that you are in a "negative" space (complaining) moving to neutral (not bugged), too, you know. If you find yourself thinking things should be other than what they are, or people should be other than who they are, take a look at what that's mirroring for yourself and what you could change about your way of being that would alter the way the world occurs for you. That could take the form of setting an example, or focusing on the people who you perceive to be at exactly the same level (good luck with that! I'm a bit curious -- you've been reading these forums for two years and you're just now getting around to signing up and posting for the first time? This complaint about the quality of the forums is the very first time you've been inspired to speak up? |

| While it's lovely to have an above average group to talk to, any group that gains a reputation for being above average will automatically attract the average and below average eventually. This is normal and to be expected. And it's important for growth. Those taking the lead (conversationally, in this case) will lead, and the followers will follow. And the contrarians will point out inconsistencies and elevate the ideas by providing useful feedback that can be incorporated into making the ideas far more useful. This is evolution. Welcome to it! :-) Peace, Love, and Bicycles, Turil |

| Thanks, guys, for keeping this thread on topic and progressive. I suggest people start their own threads and get some discussions going about the issues that concern them. I especially focus on the fact that they should be everything BUT neutral. Action is what we want this forum to produce, not just more conversation. I think this forum is a good place for those seeds of threads to grow into big nurturing trees in the form of new groups of people taking action on real issues. Then possibly posting their successful or failed results. I agree that maybe there isn't enough of this going on, and I'm working to bring those people into the forums from outside our microcosm to do just what I propose. I'd love to have this forum be a source of inspiration and guidance for others, about those who are excelling in real, tangible forms. However, we should be happy to house the troubled! There are many basic problems of mine that I've been able to make breakthroughs with because of these forums, thanks to the threads that are about basic issues. |

One way that shows up is people who care about each saying so. And I love that you are bringing new blood in for positive, inspirational, active discussion. Maybe we should do a drive? |

| It is somehow ironic that in a thread on forum quality I introduced the silliness. Apologies.

I guess we need to get Angela to give you a spanking. However, silliness does help make things fun when talking about very serious topics.
