| I was surfing the net and saw this seminar thinking, I should post about it and see if Steve was going to attend, since he's in Las Vegas. Turns out he's one of the speakers! I Can Do It! Las Vegas 2008 |

| Yup... I announced it in the blog here: Speaking in Las Vegas on June 29 Hay House is certainly being a great host. Last week they informed us they're treating me and Erin to massages at the Venetian spa. They also have a speakers' dinner, so hopefully Erin and I will get a chance to meet some of the other speakers.

which other speakers are you most interested in? so many there... |

| I'm just going Sunday, and of the afternoon speakers the one that sounded most interesting is Timothy Freke and his "Lucid Living." Marianne Williamson is doing the morning keynote. It should be a fun day. |

I think at least one of the other speakers (Doreen Virtue) is vegan too.

I used to feel weird about asking for special diet arrangements, but it is really no big thing at all. You are so involved in other stuff usually that people hardly notion or mention it. Only when you are really tired and aren't contributing your real self to the table the diet may come across a bit weird. |

| I remember the first time I ordered a fruit plate at an event and everyone else at the table was getting filet mignon. Three people looked at my plate with envy and said, "Wow, how did you get that? I would have totally gotten that instead of meat if I knew I had a choice." I have also found in our travels that chefs are often glad to be able to make something different. One chef told me he was happy to make something other than rubber chicken (he actually used those words). There was a chef at the Disney hotel years ago and when we told the waiter we were vegan he said, "Oh the chef is going to love you! He loves making special meals for the vegans." We got a lovely stir fry with an amazing sauce, over rice, and a beautiful salad. We have found that for the most part it ain't no thing to order something different but you gotta give them notice. One time we did get boiled veggies with no salt, no oil, no flavor at all. The veggies in question? Bean sprouts, carrots, tomatoes, yellow squash and a couple other things. It was nasty and bland. Worst meal we ever had at an event. But we always have a back up. I usually bring energy bars in my purse that can get us through an evening. On our plane ride from new York to Vegas they didn't get our meal on the plane and we ended up eating crackers and raisins for 6 hours which was rough. But it's rare that things like that happen.
