That was a nice entry! I'm going to implement this immediately on waking up at 5 AM everyday.

There were some things in there I genuinely didn't think of, like being accountable for waking up early. I want to wake up at 5 AM, but I'm just fine waking at 6 because the bus doesn't arrive until 7:15. So there's no apparent "fire under the belly".

Nice article!

The idea of chain habits is a really good one.

One of the habits I've been struggling with is reading your blogs often enough

Quickly wrote a new post to help take pressure off the religious article Steve?

Actually about the article though, it's all a mind game and finding motivation for yourself. Even if you know you should be doing certain things, but you choose not to anyway (either likely to do with laziness or apathy).

The call-a-friend tip might do it for me!

I have an American on-line friend, who I like to talk to over MSN. But because of the timezone difference, I'll need to get up early if I want to catch her. Maybe she'll help me out

I really liked the idea about chain habits as well.

I think one of the most important things is implementing one habit at a time. If you can narrow down your focus to a singular habit, you can overcome the initial resistance. After that, you're on autopilot.

If I am motivated and enthused, I have no problem maintaining positive habits. But if I become depressed, or trip over myself in some way that upsets me emotionally -- then I find it difficult to use intellectually oriented approaches to maintaining these habits.

I have found though, that small, commonly overlooked things and events, can provide enough emotional motivation to get the ball rolling. And these small motivators are everywhere.

I just finished an article on that today for Zen-Moments, and now I come to read your latest, and it is related. How cool is that?

That article was great, I always have had the problem of maintaining habits, and trying to make them daily didn't work either. I have started a new daily routine, and will always keep the first and last activities. I hope things will work smoothly after that.
