Defeat your enemies with success. I was wondering if anyone can relate to that or have some real-life experiences that may relate. If "Defeat your enemies with success" means anything to you can you please share? |

Do you really want to be ThatGuy? I'm so sorry, I just had to say that. I apologize. I have a really great one. There was this girl in high school -- she and her boyfriend were homecoming king and queen -- beautiful and popular. She delighted in spreading a rumor about me that I was both a whore AND a lesbian. (I was a very shy virgin.) Many years later, I was living on Maui and working for a famous artist, and after a gallery opening, the artist loaned me his limousine to get to a party at a fabulous restaurant on Front Street. I was all decked out in a gorgeous sequined gown; I was in amazing shape and I looked pretty damned hot. As I stretched my leg out of the limo door and felt all eyes on my spectacularness, my friends, the other party guests, shouted out things like, "Yay! Angela's here! We can get this party started!" And the restaurant owner took my hand and welcomed me to the table, which was just at the front, near the sidewalk. Just then, I heard: "Angela?" I turned to this very blowsy, overfed, tired, old-looking couple dressed in crappy matching aloha tourist clothing, and they greeted me like the dearest, most-missed old friend. Of course it was Homecoming Queen and King. They looked me up and down in what looked like astonishment. I gave them a big Pepsodent smile and greeted them warmly, but couldn't remember their names. "Nice to see you!" I told them as I joyfully turned to join the party people, who were still hollering at me to hurry up and get the party started. They were absolutely flabbergasted. It was great. |

Yay, Angela! I remember talking to this fit guy about running while being a spectator at a local 10K and he announced in boastful fashion that they had run two Marathons. I said: "Really? I've run four". His face was a picture. Come to think of it, maybe I was boasting too. Oh well, who cares! |
