I've been reading Steve's blogs a lot more lately. To be honest I was put off from this specific sub-forum in the beginning cuz there seemed to be a bit too much rear-end kissing toward Steve. (Ya know how that goes, people discover a smart thinker and decide that that person can't ever say anything wrong. Which I understand, I kinda feel that way about Wayne Dyer). And plus this whole current discussion about darkworkers/lightworkers seems a bit too "out there" for me. I gotta go back and read where it all started to get the history of it. At any rate, just wanted to say I feel that his blogs read like a really good book. There are many, but since I like to devote at least an hour a day doing P/D, I'll sure read them all one at a time. The main thing I love the most about Steve's writing is it has Chutzpah. Chutzpah is a rare commodity, many people would rather shut up and not speak up the truth of how they feel, as that might risk their not being liked very much. For me, I get thoroughly turned on by, and tuned in to, people that have Chutzpah. Last edited by MidasGirl; 04-27-2008 at 11:51 PM. |

I totally had to look up Chutzpah. I'm sure I'm not the only non-Hebrew-speaker here. There is a lot of posterior-kissing, and a lot of the opposite. I think people would be better off just taking Steve's writings at face value, instead of Jesusizing them to the point that his humanity gets in the way. A lot of people are like, "Subjective Reality? Polarity? wtf" and end up never reading another article on time management, or emotional mastery, or any of his other non-woo-woo subjects. I like to think of Steve Pavlina as not so much a real person, but a sort of mythological god, the god of Personal Development. He has his moments of mischief, like the Greek gods, but stays on track most of the time. Would you throw out Athena just because she acts like a jerk sometimes? Maybe. Some people would. But those people don't have a lot of courage, because courage comes from Athena. If it takes a mythological Pavlina to incite personal growth, then I'm willing to listen to his Subjective Reality, or Polarity, or fairies, or whatever it is next. |

Wait, you don't like the Jesusizing*, but you're willing to Athenize Steve? I, too, would love to hear Steve's thoughts on fairies. *doesn't that sound like a new kind of exercise? Maybe involving knocking things over at a moneylenders, or wandering in the desert? |
