Default single consciousness container

Steve,

I recently read your article titled "Spirituality vs Intelligence" and I can certainly relate to the single consciousness being experienced in the dream world; especially during a lucid dream where everything is incredibly life-like, yet I know it is a world only within my own mind. I can certainly extend this to believing my "real" life is just another dream-like reality within the same consciousness. In fact, I believe more and more that the sleeping and the waking consciousnesses we experience as separate realities are one and the same reality. Somehow when the 5 sense shut down, you get a completely different view of the same reality.

Still, the questions I have below are currently unanswered. I am curious how/if you explain them within your (subjective) model of reality. Please entertain them for me.

- Why are we stuck in a "physical body" in the first place? When I mean physical, I am referring to all the things we "have to" do such as eating, sleeping, etc to keep living in the "physical" world.

- Why are we born into a "separate body" at all?

- If we "had to" be something, why aren't you or I one of those "spiritual guides"?

- Are eating/sleeping/getting tired/etc all limiting/disempowering beliefs that we could somehow, within some kinda context/understanding, cast away while still within the physical world?

- Assuming you have good explanations to the questions above, the last one is: why did we have to manifest into the "physical" world at all? Things manifest really slowly around here..

Thanks
I'm gonna try to give my point of view, but don't take it too seriously...

- Why are we stuck in a "physical body" in the first place? When I mean physical, I am referring to all the things we "have to" do such as eating, sleeping, etc to keep living in the "physical" world

Because you want to. You intend to "live" in a physical body.

- If we "had to" be something, why aren't you or I one of those "spiritual guides"?

Because if you or I were some of those guides we couldn't type and write in this board.

- Are eating/sleeping/getting tired/etc all limiting/disempowering beliefs that we could somehow, within some kinda context/understanding, cast away while still within the physical world?

No, the healthier you are the best your conscious get, or the more access to it.

- Assuming you have good explanations to the questions above, the last one is: why did we have to manifest into the "physical" world at all? Things manifest really slowly around here..

I don't know if I have wrote down "good" explanations...
Remember YOU manifested slowly too. . Your parents intended you, then tried, and then it took 9 months or so.
According to Erin spirituality we come here because were spirits and we want to come back here.

While I"m sure there are dozens of frameworks to use, it seems as if the Buddhist one fits best here:

- Why are we stuck in a "physical body" in the first place? When I mean physical, I am referring to all the things we "have to" do such as eating, sleeping, etc to keep living in the "physical" world.

- Why are we born into a "separate body" at all?

- If we "had to" be something, why aren't you or I one of those "spiritual guides"?

All of these can be answered by recognizing that you were born into the realm of humans, versus the realm of gods, animals, ghosts or demons due to past karma.

- Are eating/sleeping/getting tired/etc all limiting/disempowering beliefs that we could somehow, within some kinda context/understanding, cast away while still within the physical world?

Yes and no. As long as you have a physical body you are bound by a certain reality, however you can eat and sleep far less and get less tired.

- Assuming you have good explanations to the questions above, the last one is: why did we have to manifest into the "physical" world at all? Things manifest really slowly around here..
Again, because of past karma. This time around, you needed to be whoever you are - but you now have the free will to change and improve your lot.

You chose to and that choice was probably unconscious. We are on the physical plane or dimension so we can see our denial in our creatorship very clearly. Physicality has the property of 'reflection' that other dimensions don't have. If you really want to get a lesson or evolve quickly, the physical is the "in your face" dimension.

- Why are we born into a "separate body" at all?

Sex is more interesting with 2 (or more) people.

- If we "had to" be something, why aren't you or I one of those "spiritual guides"?

Not challenging enough.

- Are eating/sleeping/getting tired/etc all limiting/disempowering beliefs that we could somehow, within some kinda context/understanding, cast away while still within the physical world?

Eating? You don't like eating?

- Assuming you have good explanations to the questions above

only the best!

the last one is: why did we have to manifest into the "physical" world at all? Things manifest really slowly around here..

Things manifest s-l-o-w-l-y here because we have a lot of denial around our creative process (read my blog). Some things we manifest instantaneously like our bodies and the environment around us, but want more money or that new Mercedes.... welcome to slowville. We chose physicality because its an evolutionary accellerator. You'll learn faster here than in a non-physical dimension. Yeah, it sucks at times, but it has mountains, and girls, and the new season of Lost in Feb!

Thanks everyone for thoughtful responses. It is curiouse to me too that we are 'stuck' in a physical body with senses that feedback the illusion of objective reality. I think of it as some sort of momentum, that incarnating is like pushing off in a certain direction and there's energy in motion that keeps going that way.
