You nailed it dive bomb! Thats exactly how to do it. Its his Computer program analogy. A computer is not a word processor just because it can run a processor program. Nor should a person be ONE spiritual philosophy, simply because they can think of it. |

In addition treating people who are your parents different then other people who aren't hasn't anything to do with objective reality but with your beliefs that say you should treat them a certain way (as in have contact with them). It's your responsibilty to have the kind of relationship with your parents that you want or at least not having a relationship that you hate. |

i found these answers very helpful. i questioned whether my question would be misinterpreted as a doubting of the ideas of subjective reality. it's subjective reality, meaning you can make it anyway you want i guess. Moving back to objective reality whenever it suits you. |

subjective reality, then, is not absolute truth. THE absolute true way of seeing reality does not require shifting lenses. if one lens is cloudy, in ANY situation, then it is not truth. if we step above this leve, we see that the most absolute truth is that reality is neither entirely objective nor subjective, but has components of both (like a framework- hard components, and interior- flexible components of a building) |

You can look at parenting subjectively or objectively. It works either way. Perhaps I'll write something on parenting once my kids are grown and I see how they turn out. That way I don't have to deal with so many flame emails if one of them turns out to be a serial killer or a blogger or something. |

If you want insights on how to be a good parent read "Summerhill" by A.S. Neill. He started a so-called 'free school' about 100 years ago and when 'evil' kids came in (who where so screwed that they would easily kill people and engaged in vandalism all the time) they were all changed and godly kids again within 6 months. The philisophy is to let kids free and let them lead their own development. If they want to learn. Fine. If they don't. Fine. Etc.. etc.. (That doesn't mean spoiling them, you want them to become independent). Easy for me to say since I am a 24 year old guy and not even thinking about kids yet; but I can definitely see it working.
