This sure is an interesting month. I thought you were gonna adapt in about one week , maybe two. But no, this diet was quite a bit more complicated than that. I'd like to see you extend the trial another month since this whole month has been such a rough ride, just to see a longer period of stability. |

Steve, your diet makes my head hurt. Do you find that without cooking and family meal time, you're missing out on super fun family time? I only say that because the worst part of raw foodism was not eating with my honey. I didn't make it long because I just love preparing and eating a meal with my S/O. And he's not going raw for more than a week. |

Steve, one way to get some more information about your health would be to measure your acidity/alkalinity. There are several ways to do it, according to Gabriel Cousens it's most reliable to take a 24 hour urine sample. Starting with the second urine on a day, untill the next morning first urine, and then measure that with Ph strips. |

Hi Steve, I started my raw journey just about when you did, though I've not been as strict (I have an occasional slice of Ezekiel bread and I occasionally have commercial vinaigrettes on my salad, plus I've been having hot tea and sometimes, even coffee). I discovered two things that have made my life much easier: 1) I can eat less if more of it is fat. That makes the diet more convenient and less onerous. I also lose more weight when I eat more fat--as in tahini dressing (I whisk together lemon juice, tahini and water), avocados, nuts, coconut (which is fabulous in raw pies) etc. I don't know how you are coping with so little fat in your diet. If I don't eat fat I get cravings that remind me of being pregnant. 2) I find including some Celtic sea salt in my diet makes a huge difference. Don't know if you are craving salty things. But if you are...this kind of salt, as opposed to regular table salt, seems to eliminate those cravings. I tried to go raw once before and didn't know about the salt or fat issues, and wasn't able to stick with it then. This time, I don't think I will ever stop. It's easy, I like my reduced weight, I love being able to eat all day (and have pie every day for a snack while still losing weight), and I'm surprisingly able to keep my food preparation time short, which is important since I'm the primary caretaker of two labor-intensive children... Good luck with the rest of your trial! Bonnie |

@Bonnie: I tend to agree with you. As far as this trial is concerned, I feel my results were better when I did my first 30-day raw trial, which included more fat and sea salt. I'm still having distracting cravings on this diet, which would be easy to satisfy with some flax crackers or even carrots and guacamole. And my skin is still very dry and itchy. When I did my first 30-day raw trial, I was able to eat a lot less food because I could fill up on nuts or other fatty foods and not have to eat again for hours. I think I lost about the same amount of weight on that diet, but overall I felt better than I do now. I'm going to finish off this 30 day trial with the current rules, but so far I can't say I'm too impressed with the low-fat approach. |

Wow, it looks like you pretty much just ate bananas and spinach this day. How about trying a little more variety? Try going a couple of days with no bananas. I know how you feel about not being very motivated to eat. I'm a chronic under-eater. I find it hard to make myself eat enough. Even if I'm hungry, I often don't feel like eating. So do you think maybe there's a better way? Is it just a limiting belief to think that we need to ingest food in order to survive? Can we alter that belief and become non-eaters/inediates/breatharians? How about that for your next 30-day trial? Thanks for doing this 30-day trial of this low-fat, raw food diet. It's really valuable to me. I'm very interested in this diet. Thank you for all the information that you provide. I will be eager to see your conclusions at the end of the 30 days, and I would like to know what you think is the ideal diet. |
