I've been toying with that idea, but did not dare to post it (I'm no SR expert yet...). Believing in SR is some sort of huge potent placebo effect we all use all the time. If you believe that Objective Reality runs within Subjective Reality, you have to know the rules for having a body. The extremes are obviously wrong: There is no doubt in my mind that a hard core breatharian (living on "light") will die of starvation. You can't deny physical life. But downing burgers full time (like in "Supersize me") is off too. So the question is: how far can you push the belief that your beliefs about diet are all that matters? With what rules does one decide on what to eat?

| Personally, I prefer foods that are whole (not processed), fresh, and organically grown. Mostly I eat what appeals to me and appeals to my husband, since he cooks. I pay attention to what makes me feel good and which foods have consequences. Most of the things that have consequences are processed, many of which we rarely, if ever, eat anymore. When we include meat, it's usually organic, free range, or wild. |

| Your post reminded me of one of my first yoga lessons. We have a really great yoga school here, one lead by persons who too have found their life purpose in teaching people how to make their lives better. (I eventually dropped it, since I felt not ready for such a dramatic change in my life, but thats a different story altogether). As we know, yoga unites body and spirit, so that your spirit gets more and more control of your body. I was at first surprised that they did not promote the vegetarian/vegan aspect of life as I expected. But what they taught us is that after you reach a certain level in your development, it does not matter, what food you eat, since you are able to regulate your metabolism/cellular functions to a level where you can process everything either by letting it in your body or just push it straight through without absorbing anything. That is the basis of some yogis ability to imbue poison without any harmful effects, as well as some other of their abilities, such as slowing their metabolism to a near-death point for prolonged periods of time. Given the results even the elementary practices of yoga has on peoples' bodies, I find it entirely believable that years and years of practicing various yogas can gradually develop such a level of self-control. It involves a major shift of "context" of course. While you live in the context of "you are what you eat" and in the context that "food is the main source of energy", of course vegetarian/vegan diet works better for you, since it is easier to transform into energy that your body can productively use than other types of foods. But I strongly believe that with enough effort it is possible to recreate your context so that you consciously can transform all types of energy into energy for your body, be it sunlight or steak. Most of us are just not developed that far yet. |

| It turns out that nuclear waste is actually blue, not green, due to Cherenkov Radiation. I assume this only happens when the waste is immersed in water, I would guess it's normally a boring metallic grey. Wired has a cool picture. |
