Default Waking up

Another aspect to waking up early is to work on having a compelling reason to get up in the first place. Do you have a big dream for your life? There's a quote that goes something "Men aren't lazy; they just have impotent dreams." Maybe you just need to start down the scary road to your greatness. That should help you get your butt out of bed early.

Steve, thanks for the great advice. I tried getting up at 5 am for about 2 weeks...with NO success. Then when I re-read your two articles, I noticed the area about dropping caffeine. The first 4 days were miserable. I actually had a doctors appointment about 2 days after I dropped the caffeine. (for something else) When I mentioned this too him, he said it can take up to 14 days for caffeine withdrawl to go away. Anyway, by the fifth day I woke at 5 am. After that it was all down hill. I used to lay in bed for up to 3-4 hours at night....now it's just 15 minutes max, before falling asleep. I've also been doing some other personal development stuff which involves tracking my daily tasks. I've noticed that I get more done now between 5 am - 8 am than I would in an entire day before waking up early. Three days prior to the time change I set my alarm for 4 am and it made switching to this new time a heck of a lot easier.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. Who needs to be stressed about showing up 5 or 10 minutes late?

That said, when I was temping I found that if I showed up to work EARLY (and casually made sure people knew I was there early), it was like I could do no wrong. It was like i was the goddess of temps, I even received employee of the month (big deal, but still) for the job where I was showing up early. It was a good feeling after having previously been the chronically late person!
