Thumbs up Steve at I Can Do It! 2008

So, I was checkin' out different workshops, retreats, etc., gathering information to see what I might do later this year. I pulled up the Las Vegas I Can Do It! info - and there was Steve Pavlina! It's so cool you're speaking there!

Trying not to let that sway my decision... I may want a more in-depth retreat situation. But I'd love to see you up on stage!

Go Steve, go Steve, go Steve.....

Ah the cat's out of the bag! Yes, Steve will be speaking there in June. He'll post an announcement about it pretty soon I think and you'll get more details. It's going to be awesome though so come one, come all!

I can't keep anything secret these days, can I?

I'll make an official announcement in the blog about this soon -- it was only finalized last week.

I've been to the ICDI Vegas conference 3x as an attendee (2004, 2006, and 2007), so it will be a fun twist going from attendee to speaker.

I'm just doing one of the breakout sessions, so there will be other sessions concurrent with mine.

You can probably guess who's going to be publishing my book then.

By the way, here's the session description:

STEVE PAVLINA Personal Development for Smart people: The 7 Keys to Genuine Growth
Do you suffer from “lightworker syndrome,” repeatedly failing to make important changes in your life despite the best of intentions? Join personal development expert Steve Pavlina for a workshop guaranteed to give you deep and surprising insights that will help you succeed where you previously could not. Steve will teach you the 7 fundamental principles behind all successful personal growth efforts, keys you can use to improve any area of your life, including your health, relationships, career, finances, and spiritual connection. Learn how you can achieve outstanding effectiveness while maintaining internal balance, where your thoughts, feelings, actions, and skills are all working together to create the life you truly desire.

This session is 90 minutes and will be focused on the same content I've created for my upcoming book, Personal Development for Smart People. It's all new material that's never been published in the blog or elsewhere. Some of it will overlap with my previously published ideas, but the organization and presentation of this particular material is all new. This is really the first time I'm putting all the ideas into a single, coherent, top-down framework. Essentially everything I've written up to this point can be traced back to one of these 7 principles.

ahh... so secretive. there's not even a picture of you there yet Steve! Are you eventually going to put your picture there or going to surprise everyone? I won't be able to come but wish you all the best. Seems like a great opportunity.

Holy moley!! That's just great - what wonderful energy & experience you'll have supporting you. I mean - you already do - so cool to see it manifested like that.

I hadn't even put that together 'til you mentioned it.

I'm very happy for you.

I gave them a photo to use, but it's not up yet. I'm also going to have new professional photos taken next month, so they might sub-in that one when I give it to them.

If you're going to do a thumbs up in the professional pics, just make sure you clean your thumb from all the fruit peeling!

Did you buy a decent suit already instead of that oversized one in the YouTube video?

Especially since he's been losing more weight with the raw diet.

He won't be wearing a suit at his speech. I can't think of any of the speakers that wore suits even Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, etc. But don't worry, we'll have him decked out nicely. Even if I have to hire someone with a good fashion sense. I think we've both mentioned before that we're a wee bit fashion-challenged, but we've got people who can help us with our handicap

Wish there was a good blog teaching men how to dress. I'm also fashion-challenged. My main problem is when I see guys wearing fashionable clothing, it looks good on them. When I go to the stores and see the clothes folded up, I have no clue what they would look like on me, nor do I have any clue what goes with what.

Mind you, I do also know that the guys I know that dress really well spend half the paycheck on clothes and shop every weekend for new stuff. I prefer to spend half my paycheck on books.

This is wonderful, Steve! I wasn't sure if the book was ever coming out, but now I wonder if it's appearance in 2008 was meant to suprise us a bit.

Does this mean it's only a matter of time before you you hold your own workshop?

Go to a store that has a gay salesperson and ask him. Gay men know what looks good on men.

I guess I can see why fashion would be important to a speaker like Steve, but I don't see why it's important to us men who don't give speeches for $10K a pop. Fashion is set in large-part by the fashion industry.

Important? probably not. But fun? yes! Danger Man is one of those men who knows how to dress like a million bucks, and he really revels in it. (He is a model.) It is so much fun to dress up and go out with him, to see him in his fine, well-fitting clothes, and plus I've got my own personal stylist. He also reports that he is generally treated with more respect and attention when he dresses well rather than wearing old duds. Fun!

Of course Erin would like to see her man set off his good looks in a high-quality, well-fitting outfit. It's fun!

There's a difference between dressing fashionable and dressing very nicely. I was talking of the former, not the latter. You can dress very nicely and look great, but not fashionable.

Looooking goooood is from an ancient tv show called Chico and the Man. In my view, it referred to inner glow, presence, confidence, and presenting your appearance attractively.

Sorry for the horrible derailment. To bring it back inline, I want to send my best wishes for Steve at his seminar to be Loooooooking Gooooooooooooood!

Ha! You are so right! Strike the "wears". He gets more attention when he wears dresses well, but not quite so much respect.
