I believe it was the last post in which you said "22 days. Not a problem." Getting a little cocky huh Steve? Haha, just kidding, I'm sure you'll make it.

Yeah, it's been flip-flopping every day or two. One day the diet seems easy to follow; the next day it's a really tough challenge. I'll make it to day 30, but the question is whether I'll coast across or drag myself across.

Obviously for this diet to be sustainable in the long-term, I'm not going to want to be battling old cravings every day. I'm hoping they subside over time as others have reported.

Jo.. already almost 1/3 through. Do you still have short sleeping time; like not getting tired before eleven or twelve?

I'm amazed that there is no mention of mushrooms etc in your diet. One of natures wonder foods and delicious raw.

Steve: If you have a blowout on day 31 and eat pizzas, veggieburgers, soya icecream etc, please take photos (and add up the calories!) :-) Hopefully you won't feel the need to. I was in a shop the other day and I saw a big rack of chocolates and crisps (which I never buy) and was very aware that they were a complete waste of resources: plastic wrapped sugar, fat and chemicals which no one needs as part of a healthy diet.

I hate mushrooms, they are so alien. Their cells aren't the same as plants, they are weird. Unfortunately (for me) if I go to a restaurant that has a veggie option it nearly always has mushrooms in it.

My Aikido has improved as a result of my healthier diet. I seem to find it easier to tune into the other people and sense their movement and my own movement seems smoother and more powerful. Plus I remain clear-headed through the whole lesson without fatigue. I hope this continues!

Raw Food Talk - sexy savory smoothies

Savory smoothies are a great way to get your greens when you've had your fill of sweet fruit. These recipes are very tasty but they do all call for either garlic or onion.

I'm not including mushrooms on this trial. I avoided mushrooms even before this trial unless they were already mixed into another food. A mushroom is a fungus, not a fruit or veggie. I've read it can also cause a number of problems once it hits the bloodstream.

I too was craving more fat than usual yesterday and ended up eating some mushrooms. I went to Whole Foods to stock up on fruits and veggies. My Whole Foods has a raw prepared food section in the cold case near produce. They had raw baby portobello mushrooms stuffed with pesto which I had never seen before. They were actually pretty incredible other than they weren't as fresh as I would have liked. They had a very rich flavor and texture, very satisfying. I decided to buy some baby portobellos and try making them myself. These are definitely a treat and not something I would eat everyday, but sometimes you just want something a bit more substantial. I don't use a dehydrator and I'm trying not to eat much olive oil, so I may marinate the mushrooms in lemon juice to "cook" them a bit instead. I googled and found a recipe that looks similar:

PESTO STUFFED MUSHROOMS
2 dozen white button mushrooms

PESTO STUFFING
1 C walnuts
1/2 C pine nuts
2 oz basil (or 2 cups loosely packed)
2 cloves garlic (be careful with the garlic)
1/2 habanero finely diced (optional)
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
ground black pepper to taste (optional)

Directions: Marinate the mushrooms in EVOO (add salt and black pepper to taste). Lay mushrooms stem side up (with stem removed of course) and then fill with the pesto stuffing, which you blend in a food processor. Dehydrate an hour or so to warm up. If you want to dehydrate longer so that the mushrooms soften, you can do that also

Sure, there's some detailed info on it in the book Sick & Tired by Dr. Robert Young. I don't buy all of his ideas, but the info on mushrooms ending up as fungi in the bloodstream was convincing.

Hey Steve,
A few years ago I read a raw food diet book by David Wolfe which contained some pretty good recipes-- you may want to check out (incase you haven't already).

Hey Steve or anyone else who knows.
You mentioned that you got a raw foods book package of some sort and mentioned ebooks. I am inspired by your 30 day trial and will be doing one myself. I just want a bit more information before i dive in. I guess I could just copy what you are eating, but I would like to know about what you are eating and why. So is there an ebook version of the 80/10/10 diet book? Where did you find the books you got?

I got the books from Roger Haeske. He had a special on them a while ago. It was a collection of audio and ebooks. I don't know if he still offers it, but you can contact him about it via his web site for more info.
