Default Transiting levels of consciousness

I've been dwelling on Steve's descriptions of levels of consciousness.
I find that many of these levels are characterised by, almost defined by certain predominant emotions.

Emotions, by their very nature happen and cannot be caused by an intentional effort. Does that mean that there is no algorithm to lift myself even a small delta higher in awareness than where I am in a given moment?

And yet my experience is that I can. I am surely missing something...

Are you talking about Pavlina's descripion of David Hawkins' description of levels of consciousness? If so, then I can tell you that Dave got the idea from Lester Levenson's Chart of Cmotions - so yes, emotions and consciousness are certainly tied very closely together according to this model. David Hawkins was a student of Lester's for many years.

Also, what do you mean by 'Emotions, by their very nature happen and cannot be caused by an intentional effort'? What on earth got this idea into your head?

According to the scale since I was a teenager I've basically been shifting between courage and pride, occasionally getting frustrated and falling into anger. Right now I'm in a state of courage and I think I've moved beyond pride for good. I can see how I may be transitioning to the level of neutrality in the near future. Its an interesting scale. I'm interested in where all ya'll fall on it.
