I'd like to hear others experiences with these topics. My goal over the next few months is to get my sleep pattern in order, and possibly try polyphasic sleep. My sleep patterns are like Steve's used to be.. I get up at around 9 or 10 and find myself sleeping 8+ hours per night. I know that I should be able to run off less sleep than this. My problem is that when I get around 6-7 hours per night for more than 2-3 nights in a row (with no naps) I get sick. Any ideas on this? or what I can do to overcome this. I know if I want to start polyphasic sleep, I need to first master getting around 7 hours of sleep per night while staying healthy.

i have a similar problem i dont get sick but on the 4th or 5th day i will need those lost hours and my body/willpower will get them one way or another this truly sucks as i fervently believe that at this point in my life that major improvements WILL happen if i 1. wake up earlier and 2. sleep less i have a general problem with discipline and although steve's blogs related to this subject clearly work in theory i havem't made them work yet Last edited by Slartibartfast; 11-19-2006 at 11:43 PM. |

I think the whole problem that people sleep too much is that they really have nothing meaningful to occupy their time with. That's how I used to be before i started writing. Now I wake up around 8 or so and start working hard, but enjoy it as well. So that's how I feel about it. If you need to sleep less to do something incredible, you will. If not, it will be harder to do so. Why wake up early if it's only to surf the internet or play video games?

I wake up 6 o`clock in the morning every weekday. Then I repeat my school things for begined day, reading my goals and inspirational books. I go to school 8 o`clock in the morning. There was a time, when I worken in this time from 6 to 8 in the morning, but I had saw that this activity doesn't give me good results, so I tryed something new.. And it fited for me. I have a habit to wake up 6 in the morning, and I'm happy What do you think, should I wake up earlier? |

I've tried to become an early riser a couple of times (30 days challenge etc). This is really something I would like to accomplish since I sleep way too much some days (usually one day a week I do absolutely nothing but sleeping and procrastinating). But I have a very hard time accomplish any long term results. I got to the point when I woke up at 6 in the morning, a few minutes before the clock rang. But then I developed the habit of snoozing (or even ignoring) the alarm. I had all these plans of things that I wanted to do in the morning. But in the end I ended up just surfing the web or doing some other mindless stuff because I was still too tired. I go to School and sometimes miss out on classes because of this. I don't have the same problem with work. I usually get there in time even if I'm kinda slow in the morning those days as well. Any good suggestions? My feeling is that it closely relates to my bad habit of procrastination and bad motivation/discipline. I never follow through. |
