It was spooky reading your post after I read carenkh's post this morining! I hadn't yet seen your reply to her when I read the newest post. I am glad to hear you took a break and looked deeper into what this illness means.

I've had many of those same symptoms lately. May be cedar fever, but I guess I will take this hint to look a little closer.

Here's to great health and clarity all around!

It happens to me quite often. When ever I take a new resolution and work on it after few days I would fall ill. And I used to stop working on the new thing after that. Last month I took a resolution of going to gym twice a day in order to reduce my weight. After 3 weeks of successfully implementing it I got affected by fever for 5 days. I couldn’t go to New York to meet Steve and Erin because of that. But today I have again started the resolution of going to gym twice a day, at least as a 30 days trail.

I've found from personal experience that getting sick means I'm doing something wrong -- something needs changing. I remember making an intention, a strong intention that I kept up which I posted somewhere here on being healthy everyday for the rest of my life.

I did get sick sometimes on single-day occasions which led to experimentation and more research about my health (including a personal meeting and a phone conversation with 2 different nutritionists), as well accessing my intuition on the matter. Eventually, that led to me experimenting with veganism, which didn't work out -- but now I"m a happy vegetarian (okay with milk and cheese). I don't really see the spiritual or logical problem with either milk or cheese, and I'm happy with that.

If anybody knows why it's better to be a "pure vegan" without both these foodstuffs and is willing to tell me, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm always experimenting and learning about health, for example, right now I only consume veggies/fruit for dinner.

All this has significantly helped me go from a person who regularly sleeps 8-10 hours to 6-7 hours of sleep a night, plus a massive, enduring spike of energy. Also, I learned that vegetarianism foodstuffs all across everywhere from grocery stores to Wrap/Pita franchises are significantly cheaper than anything you can get from say, burger joints.

Maybe I'm odd - that's OK, I've been called odd before - but I honestly can't recall getting sick from anything remotely resembling existential crisis. In every case that I can recall, it's always come down to shaking someone's hand who had a cold, being sneezed on by a 3-year-old, eating bad eggs (airline food... if the omellette is kinda grey, don't eat it... trust me on this) or similar.

*scrubs hands* damn germs...

Yea, I know. But I listened to my body! I was hungry, hadn't eaten in about 24 hours at that point.

I know. I got about five sips down before I felt sick! Then I got rid of it. My body only thinks it knows what it wants...it can't handle the reality of it.

I've been considerably healthy for the past 5-odd years, so it's been surprising that I've (also) been terribly ill for two weeks now.

I have had a hard time concentrating with school or doing anything productive for that matter. Then of course, there's the frustration at yourself for being unproductive. Yet fighting it seems to make it worse.

I think it's okay to resort to some inward "easy" time while you're sick. I've been getting much better after I decided to take time to just play video games or hang out with friends without adding any guilt.

Hmmm... its very interesting that i read this article by steve at this moment in time... because i'm feeling the smae frustration of illness keeping me from doing what i want to do (cold stopped my workouts for two week after i'd only been doing it for a month, and now ear infection keeps me out of the water for two week after i've only been doing it for a month...). Maybe God is trying to tell me to focus on something else, something i've been missing...

Steve,

I'm glad to hear you're well on the road to recovery, and congratulations for using your "down time" for personal growth.

And although the notion of re-tasting your smoothie painted quite a vivid picture, I'll be sure to keep that in mind next time I'm ill!

The reason I haven’t posted the New York City trip review yet is that I’ve been sick the past several days.

steve,

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Default Steve, I think you should consider your dream really seriously

Hi Steve,

If your recent lucid dream suggested you to go to Middle-East and do some "truth blogging" from there, I think you should do so.

Look at this blog:
Baghdad Burning

This is an Iraqi women reporting her view on her experience after the US invasion. Her most recent post is titled "Bloggers Without Borders...". Isn't this a kind of invitation for you? (And no, I'm really not kidding).

Just think about it, would you, please?

Default Illness

Hi
Firstly - Steve I do hope you feel better soon!
In my introduction (on the general introductions forum) I mentioned that having been ill myelf this week I had a very strong feeling Steve was going to post something about illlness.

I always look at the symbolism of the illness. For example, right now I've been diagnosed with labyrinthitus. It's a virus in the inner ear which causes severe vertigo. I had it last year and fainted a few times except then I didn't know what it was. It came back with a bang last Thursday and I thought I was having a stroke! It was terrifying!

All week I have had to stay in as it's not safe for me to walk anywhere by myself although now it's improved a little I will have to brave going to the shops tomorrow.

The symbolism however is very interesting - obviously I am being challenged about the issue of 'balance'. I feel like I am being asked to look at what is in or out of balance in my life. I'm fascinated by the name of the illness - suggesting I am in or feel like I am in a labyrinth, trying to figure out the way through. I need to go and read the tale of the Minotaur!

This year I have also been pestered by a horrendous rash on my face (looking at things that I cannot 'face'). Now I've looked them in the eye it has just about gone.

A few years ago my hair started falling out in patches after a death. My hair is one of my unique points as it's extremely long and thick. I was terrified I would lose all my hair! Eventually it did stop and the hair grew back. I associate my hair as one of my 'strengths' (just like Samson and Delilah!) so it was a very visible sign that I felt weak.

Whatever happens in this reality I tend to interpret just as I would a dream - afterall this is a dreaming life :-)

I seem to experience sick-like symptoms the day after I've been very productive - the day after being in the zone.

I fear this has something to do with my history of procrastination. Somehow I think my body is not yet used to actually accomplishing a lot on one day.

Any ideas on how to be productive, while not suffering from a fallback the day after?

The way I tend to look at it is... there are millions (gazillions?!) of germs everywhere (eek, hope that doesn't make anyone paranoid!), but we don't get affected by them most of the time. It is only when our energy body is vulnerable in some way, that the little beasties find their way in, and then the ones that do get in reflect which part of our energy body is vulnerable (i.e a stomach bug when your second/third chakra is out of balance, or a sore throat when it's your 5th chakra).

Your beliefs also come into it (part of your energy system, eg if you believe that you'll get a cold every change of season, or when "things are going round").

Last cold/flu season, I got sneezed on I don't know how many times! I was using public transport a lot and so was in contact with many sick people... my husband kept saying "we're going to get it, I know we are", whereas I felt completely disassociated from that belief and also felt very well at all levels. He got sick, and proceeded to sneeze all over me at home as well, so for about a month solid, I got sneezed on everywhere everyday! I didn't get so much as a minor sniff. But then, a couple of weeks ago, my writing ideas dried up, and I got a sore throat (the 5th chakra governs communication and creative expression).

All illness starts in the energy body. If you are aware, you can get it before it manifests physically. If it gets to the point of a physical illness, deal with it through medication and sleep, and learn whatever lesson it's teaching you!

Hi,

I am happy you are feeling better Steve and hope you are fully recovered soon.

I met you in NYC and have also been sick this past week. It's been strange because it is my first time ill since healing myself of chronic pain. When I was ill I felt like I had the flu most days and that is how I have felt the last week. It has made me so grateful for my last 10 months of health. I, too have been trying to examine WHY my body is so out of whack and what I can do to learn from the sitting time..... I have no doubt my slacking off of meditation, not coping with recent stresses and working myself too hard has contributed and am using the time to come up with a better schedule for myself so hopefully I won't feel this badly for a long time....

Health is so integral for the other aspects in your life to work. When I healed and finally was pain-free I was definitely trying to make up for lost time and considered myself super women instead of just appreciating my health and treating my body with the care it deserves. Thanks for the reminder of WHY my body is reacting the way it is and how to use the time to create some positive changes in my life.

Feel better!

Lightbulb cure for your sore throat

Hi Steve,

I've got a cure for your sore throat. I read it some time ago and when i got a sore throat myself i gave it a try. Well its nothing short of a miracle. I had a sore throat for over 5 days and it was very painful and was loosing allot of sleep because of it. When i tried this it was mostly gone in 15 minutes and completely gone after half an hour. It never came back after that. I had a great night sleep that evening.

Try this

Thanks for the suggestion. I could have used that when I had strep throat a few years ago -- even with painkillers it was intolerable. But this sore throat was very mild and is pretty much gone already.

Wow this is really thought provoking! For I have been hit with sickness after sickness for the past 2 months, and I never thought, perhaps the universe is telling me something, that im on the wrong path of sorts.

About 2 months ago It started with glangala fever, then bronchitis combined with conjunctivis. As soon as I recovered from that I got chicken pox. Then not long after that I caught a flu and some other weird sickness.

Perhaps this should be explored further...

Dear Steve,

Usually when someone gets sick I say, "FEEL BETTER SOOOOOON!!"

However, I suppose in your case I suppose I should say... hmm... "May your illness last the PERFECT time for you to complete your Spiritual Journey!"

Steve, having a lucid dream while still consciously awake...that sounds like a trip and a half. The only thing that would be more extreme than that is to have an astral experience and fall asleep and then have a lucid dream. I too have experienced this time dilation in dreaming, where it seems like hours have gone by in the dream, but you wake up and it has been ten minutes. It usually happens after I wake up initially and drift back off to sleep without knowing it. I guess I'm still conscious at that point.

Hi Andrew
I've experienced much the same all my life. It was lucid dreams, projection and sleep paralysis that taught me a huge amount about the dreaming world and in turn this world too. I've always been utterly fascinated by the issue of time in the dream worlds - how we can have an enormous amount of experiences in a condensed amount of time. I tend to think of time as a concept in this reality, often spirit say 'there is no time' and there have been moments where I sense being 'between times'. It's rather like the old trick of teaching the astral 'eyes' to perceive a cube from all sides in one moment.
On a more practical side, perhaps we only remember the dreaming mind as linear because when we are remembering we are using our conscious mind which has been taught to respond to linear time. Perhaps when we dream we are dreaming layer upon layer at the same time, plus images are more densely packed with meaning.
I have as yet to come to a conclusion about this so I'm not saying anything is right or wrong - just throwing out some thoughts :-)
And on that note, I need to go to bed!

Veddy intavestink!

I have been sick for almost a week. Knock me on my behind kinda sick, where I've done nothing but try to feel half-human. I've literally had the energy of roadkill! Would you believe I've spent this time doing some self-reflecting and making major changes in the direction of my life?

And now here I am, reading this. It just confirms that I am on the right road indeed.

My illness went away and then just re-appeared yesterday again! I too am going through a lot of personal transformation right now. Weird how it fits in.

When I was working with a spiritual coach before she used to tell me "Take care of yourself" whenever I'd make good progress. She told me that often times spiritual growth manifests itself in physical symptoms as your body adjusts to the new "state of being".

Isn't this strange, Paul. Last week I wrote on this forum that my wife and I were going on a short holiday, to a tranquil, peaceful island resort, and we were going to spend our time doing a lot of manifesting, meditation etc.

Well, that is what I did (my wife ended up sleeping a lot) and guess what, on the way back on Tuesday, I started to fall ill.

And now I am down with a bad flu, still having fever and a sore throat, and in the past few hours, I've started to lose my voice. And some stuff has been coming out from my throat and it looks like very bloody pieces of flesh coming off my throat wall.

I actually rarely fall ill at all. In fact, come to think of it, the only other time I fell ill this year was around July, IIRC, when I tried to do some energy healing on my dad, who'd been having some health problems. Made myself sick then too, all the flu symptoms including the loss of voice, and yeah, that same gross bloody stuff started coming out from my throat.

Yeah, I've been to the doctor. She says it's just flu.
